Bullying has just gotten way out of control. Mostly (to me) because for the longest time, it wasn't really taken seriously. I grew up thniking something was wrong with me and/or I was strange because of being bullied from grade 3 and up. Everyone wasn't on the internet,so the bullying was more face to face and physical. I was thrown in lockers, constantly talked down to, picked with, food thrown at me and group beatings outside the school. But today, kids can get all of that, THEN, in the the privacy of their own homes, log into social networking sites only to be abused/harrassed even more. Its sad that if you are your own individual in whatever way, you stand a great chance of being bullied. The more you fit into general population, the safer you are. What happened to people having the right to be who/what they are? I don't care if you dress strange, have a hanicap, are gay, goth, extra smart etc..You don't DESERVE to be bullied. No one should have to feel like killing themselves is the only way to stop the bullying. You know what that means people? That means WE'RE FAILING. Even the strongest of us can be weak at times. We shouldn't have so many young people ending their lives before its even started because they don't know what else to do. Forgive me if I just around topic, I am OUTRAGED and not the most eloquent speaker, buy I'm not going to let that stop me from speaking. We are ALL responsible. In my household, we try to enforce the fact that they've done nothing wrong . That bullies have issues with themselves so they take it out on others. I can only pray that my children never feel like that's the only out for them. You know, its sad when you can even go to the store without being bullied. But this whole thing with people feeling like they can hide behind the anonymity of a computer screen to tear someone else has to STOP. Times have changed and now its time for some laws to change too..seriously. This bullying shit has got to stop. Long ago, I almost took myself out because of it. I remember feeling it was because I had nowhere to turn. The person I was living with at the time wasn't listening, the kids were brutal and I only had a therapist and a cat to look to. You'd be surprised at what you'll do when you hit a low point, esp as a teenager when you're still figuring out who you are. But guess what? I survived it because I remembered that I had the love and support of my grandmother and greatmother. BUT the biggest reason why I got through it was because if I did something to myself..They win..and I freaking HATE losing. So there you have it. I'm not sure how I would have dealt with being bullied outside and at a computer though, admittedly. Our youth today have SO much to deal with and not enough support in which to deal with it. Not enough centers/places of solice to do something worthwhile. Too many parents who are struggling just to pay the rent so they don't have time to talk to their children. too many parents that just don't care. And too many people who are just not involved. I have NINE children, but do you know how many people actually call me mom, mommie number 2? Over afew dozen. As an adult, its my repsonisiblity to be there for them. I don't turn a blind eye beyond my children. There's alot fo people like Jamey who decided that suicide was the only answer. There are countless other youth trying to figure out if thats the best option for them right now. It breaks my heart. It really does. We can be so hateful towards one another some times. We all have the ability to do our part. If you're bullying..CUT THAT SHIT OUT. If you see something, say something, just like they're telling you to do with suspicious packages and such. I refuse to sit hear and believe that NOTHING could be done. Something could always be done. It just takes people willing to stick their necks out to do it.
