Almost There!

I am getting very near the end of the recording phase of my new album and I am VERY excited! My first CD took seven years for me to complete. I gave myself seven WEEKS to completely record this one and I have one week left. Next, I'll do the final mixes and then send it off to be mastered with the artwork and liner notes. Whew!

I was extremely proud of my first CD when it was released in 2009 but I think that this new one will be WAY better. On a whole, it sounds much more focused, like it is one large piece of work instead of lots of bits and pieces. I think that my playing has improved a little but my singing and songwriting have improved a LOT.

Right now I have most of the songs on my app and reverberation page but they are unfinished rough mixes. Once they are all done, I will remove those recordings and you won't be able to hear them again until the finished versions are released on the CD, so check these early versions out now while you still can!

Looking forward to many good things in 2012, and thank you again for your support.

2011, A Year I’ll Never Forget

With the end of the year just hours away, I sit here and look back on all that has happened over the last 12 months with many different mixed emotions.

2011 started out as one of the most difficult and painful times, with the loss of my dear friend Auri Naggar. Not only was Auri one of the best friends that I’ve ever had, he was also a teacher, a mentor and a role model for me. In many ways, he also filled the huge gap that was left when my father passed away. Auri always had a way of helping me to get through rough times by seeing things in a much healthier way than what I tended to.

Auri was always good at bringing people together and encouraging others to live their lives to the fullest, and he is still doing those things. Since he passed, I have made several friends with people who were close to him, and friendships that I already had have grown stronger than ever before. His wife, Mary Beth, and his son, Jed, are now like family to me and I am so grateful to be friends with both of them.

Another thing that Auri left to me was the classes of Young Actors Workshop, which I feel is a big responsibility but also the greatest honor I’ve ever been given. On April 1st, I moved from Burlingame to Half Moon Bay so that I could be closer to YAW. Since then, my life has become more wonderful than I ever imagined. For the first time in many years, I live in a place where I can have a dog and now I have the sweetest, cutest, most awesome little dog in the world. I also live close to the ocean, which has been a dream of mine since I was 7 years old. I am surrounded by friends in a community that I truly love. I am a full-time music/acting teacher and I love every single minute of it. I can honestly say that life has never been as good as it is right now.

So I look back on 2011 with great sadness over the loss of my friend, but also great optimism for what the future holds. I can honestly say that in 2011, I fell in love with my life for the first time ever. I just wish that Auri was here to see it, as he is responsible for a very big part of it.

Whether 2011 was a good year for you or a bad one, I wish you a better year in 2012. I wish you all the Peace, Happiness and Joy that you deserve.

Holiday Plans...

Wow, is it really that time of the year again? I have a lot of really fun projects in the works and I hope you can be a part of them!

I have such fond memories of Christmas time with my parents and sisters. My favorite part was shopping for my three little sisters and trying to find the best Christmas gifts for them that I could. Unfortunately, many families don't have the money to get a lot for their children, which is why I'm working to put together a show in Half Moon Bay to benefit Toys For Tots. Every kid deserves to get a nice Christmas present, so I hope that you will come out to the show and bring a new, unopened toy to donate. I am still working on the details but I will post them here as soon as they are finalized.

Until then, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Love, Kevy

New CD In The Works & I Want YOU To Be Involved!

If you are reading this, then you are already interested in my music, which is why I want to have YOU involved in my next album. Electric guitar is my first love, so I have decided to step out of my own comfort zone and record an album of acoustic music. My plan is to start recording the week of Thanksgiving and post rough mixes for you so that you can follow my progress and give me your feedback. This way, you can let me know what you do/don't like and I can get a better understanding of what you want to hear. I will post more details soon and I hope to have the CD out by January. I will be posting the recordings on ReverbNation and updating this blog regularly. Both can be easily accessed with the new "Kevy Nova" free app for iPhone and Android. See you soon!

Welcome To My World
