Hey Everybody! As you all know, our first studio album, "Joy In the Mourning" is slated for release on May 21, 2012. We're using our partners at Tunecore to distribute to all the major online retailers worldwide, including iTunes & Amazon.
While we love the ability to reach so many people digitally, we also really like having a CD to listen to. Pre-Orders are available for either the digital download or the CD right here at yellowtieguy.us in the store.
But really, there's no substitute for being a part of a special concert event, and getting your copy of the album to commemorate. That's why we are super excited to announce that we are performing our offical CD Release Party at the Soundstage in Baltimore, MD on May 21, 2012, the same day as the digital release! This will be an extremly exciting event as it is in partnership with 98 Rock's Noise in the Basement hosted by Matt Davis!
We'll be on the air with 98 Rock at 9:00pm EST on Sunday, May 20th, 2012, to talk to Matt and to spin some tracks from the new album. Local fans can tune in to 97.9 on their radio dials, and our global fanbase can still listen in on www.98online.com
Then on Monday, May 21, 2012 we'll be performing songs from the new album, and sneaking in some special surprises! Doors open at 8pm and there's an open bar from 8pm -9pm, plust 98cent drink specials after that!
Tickets are just $5.00 and will be available shortly from the YTG website so keep your eyes peeled!
It's an all ages show so you can bring the whole family to hang out!
There is also a parking lot located in the same building as the cluib for $5.00 per car. You get a ticket in the garage when you park and then you can get your validation card from the ticket booth when you enter the club so you can get your special $5.00 parking price!
This is also a special day because we have a lot of birthdays going on from friends, family, and fans! We'll be celebrating the 21st birthday of YTG frontman Daniel W. Hill's sister, Angela (who sang backing vocals on "War"), and other members of the YTG street team! Let us know if you're having a birthday that week(end) too at email@example.com. We'd love to celebrate with you!

The last time we used the reverbnation blog was back in October of 2010. We've bounced around to some other services for our blog, but now we're back! This is a great opportunity for you to read the blog even if you don't consistently check out the www.yellowtieguy.us website. We'll try to keep you updated!
Well, the Gorilla Music, DC Battle of the Bands showcase is officially over, and the winners this go around are Mothership! Congratulations guys!
There were a lot of great bands at the event! Everyone was talented & professional. Special shout out to runner ups, For the Broken. They had a lot of great fans there and put on a good show! It was a close call!
Want to make sure that I mention the other wonderful bands there, because I feel most of our fans would enjoy a lot of the music. It's our pleasure to introduce: Southern Governer, Hye Tension, Despite Charm, Disengage, and Grand Revival.
A great mix of genres and overall great show, at what was formerly Jaxx.
That's right I said formerly. What was once Jaxx, is now Empire, and it's going through some changes that are going to be exciting for Springfield, VA! The place is getting a face lift inside and there was an awesome crew of people keeping things moving. Send some love to Zach, Jason, Pete, Diego, Gene, Mike, Jeff, Heidi next time you're in the area (Sorry if I missed anyone!).
We'd really like to thank Empire, and Gorilla Music, especially Bryan Pauley, for setting up & coordinating the event and coming out all the way from Cleveland to run the show. What a great time!
Oh yeah! Did I mention YTG played too?! If you were at the event and wanna tell everyone what a great time you had, or if you have photos of the event that you'd like to share with us, track us down on facebook at www.facebook.com/yellowtieguy
I have a few articles I'd like to share, and some of my thoughts:
The first line says it all. Ignorance is the #1 reason why you steal via illegal downloading. Did you know of all the wonderful avenues currently available to you to show your support to an artist, a musician, a film-maker?
Now why would you want to support them at all?
Imagine a world without music. Have you ever been moved by the writings of a specific author? A movie? A photograph?
There are convenient, free, services like Hulu, Deviantart, and Reverbnation where you can personally choose to be up to date on whatever your passions may lie, and have opportunity to support the arts that inspire you, whether by ad or direct support.
Here's another idea for you
Choose to be inspired in a way that can
I receive industry info thanks to my ASCAP relationship. One of the sites mentioned regards youtube's triumph over myspace as far as content viewed relating to music and artists.
I feel that the biggest advantage youtube has over myspace involves it's relationship with search features that create direct connections with the content.
For example, I can type an artist's name and song title into google and then access the song directly within a typically short amount of time.
Myspace often has limited resources for content placement & organization, is difficult to develop and maintain, does not always have smooth operation of the features it's attempting to develop. Myspace also offers minimal content in the sense that if I'm searching for a particular song by a particular artist, it may have been removed to allow space for new content.
I guess basically, what I'm trying to say is. I myself use youtube when hunting a particular song or artist down. Sometimes it's because I actually want to see the video content, but often it's a matter of convenience, which is really what I think myspace is currently lacking in large quantities.
Hey Dan, I have two questions. 1. My bass is in massive need of help with tuning. 2. What equipment will I need to have a decent recording studio. Like, audio wise.
That's a really tough question regarding recording equipment. You basically have 2 really good options that I'm aware of these days: 1) Portable recording workstations (like the Tascam ones we carry at HotLicks) or (2) a combination of a decent computer and an audio interface that gives you a little room to grow (like the Mbox, also available at Hot Licks:P) lol. That's the best I can do for now, but we can talk a little bit more. Give yourself lots and time and patience to evaluate the benefits of home recording versus studio recording. In a cost by cost analysis, I came to the conclusion that, the unit I purchased was around the same cost of almost 8 hours of recording. With that in mind you could probably complete about 3-4 demo tracks in that studio time without having to go through the learning curve of new equipment.
I begin to write this, my thesis of the methods in which someone who wishes to be heard, to be thrown into the hat of legacy and fate and see if you will be remembered by the people. "With what reputation will I be remembered?", I ask. IS that as important as that I be remembered? I've been told it is better be loved than feared, so I will begin there.
Some simple rules:
They should be familiar. Credit where credit is due.
1) Some of them want to use you 2) Some of them want to be used by you 3) Some of them want to be abused 4) You can't always get what you want (but if you try you just might find you get what you need) 5) You can fool some of the people all the time 6) You can fool all of the people some of the time 7) You cannot fool all of the people all of the time. 8) Time is on my side
Cam you love someone and use them? Abuse them? Can someone love you and use you? Yes, indeed. To be used of one's full potential is a great inner calling from every single one of us. Elbert Hubbard said something along the lines of a man's worth was based on his agreeableness and use-fullness.
Some warning: You can use some of the people all of the time, and you can use all of the people some of the time, but do not use all of the people all of the time.
Moving on... You can't always get what you want. Get used to it. Some days you win, some days you lose. You got to know when to hold em and know when to fold em. Ahem.
Looking back at opportunities where you could have done more can be a very painful thing, but it would be better to endure the mistake knowing it will never be made again, rather than reliving the same experience over and over again without realizing how to pick up and move on. Typically the scales tip here and there leaving you with some things in your favor again, and in others with which you are out of favor. Them's the breaks, kid.
As for fooling people.
Fake it if you're out of direction. Fake it if you don't belong here. Seether
What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays? You're the pretender. What if I say I will never surrender? Foo Fighters
So there you go.
That simple you ask?
Yeah, all you have to do is fake it...at least long enough for the autopilot (aka. windrider) to take effect. Eventually some of the things that you thought were difficult will require only simple management and maintenance. Your skills are improving daily!
Or...you could really suck at it...and that's okay too!
For example: Do you have fear of getting on stage?
But...what if...you never get up on stage?
Is it impossible to be a musician now? What will we do?
...maybe we can still use our musical talent to write the music that others perform on stage...
PHEW! That was close! We really didn't know if we'd come up to a solution for that one.
Seriously folks, Time is on your side. You are a little fish in a big pond, after all. You will have a lot of ocean to swim before other fish will remember you in the event you become hooked.
The music business can be stated simply. Clearly.
I've been playing the match for over 11 years now. "So, where is Yellowtieguy in this...endurance match?", You ask.
Well I'm glad you asked...

An idea has to have a true value, not simply subjective rationalism if it is going to extend into the realm of legacy. An idea that can be bought and sold will never have more than subjective value. When something of true value is pitted against subjective value, the idea that contains will 'win out' every time (in time).
Truth can be subjective. What is true? What have you been told to be true? What is real truth regardless of perceptions? If time does reveal all things, is truth revelation? Is something more true because one person believes it over another?

There is a great gift that the citizens of our nation and of the globe have both understood and forgotten: One person can make a difference. The difference that one person can make is the potential for both success and failure.
Given the right paradigm: the system to maintain it, and the belief (faith) and leadership to encourage change, growth, and development. The attitude of seeking and seeing the benefits, the commitment to long term relationships and ideas.
One person may provide all these necessary concepts to bear fruit.
Some people believe these traits exist within a select few. Others believe it exists within everyone.
It is really when we see that both statements are true we see that the center is the closest truth.
Too common, if an idea is seemingly without intrinsic value, we ask, "Can I compensate you enough for you to perceive value." In essence, "Can I buy you? What is your price?"
Believe it or not, value is the fundamental on which every idea is considered before it is projected. If we as individuals do not find value in our own ideas than we remove them from our mind. However, if an idea has personal value in our minds, we consider what that value means, then we reveal our idea in hopes that others will also perceive value. That is projection.
A scarcity mentality leads to a deficiency motivation. "There's only so much to go around. I just don't want to be without."
Only, If the projected idea becomes acted on is it then considered to contain enough value, or the right kind of value, by those considering it.
Value is subjective. It is possible that an idea will not have the same value if the persons considering the idea are different from before. Perhaps there is a loss of drive, desire, passion, motivation, discipline, or even direction. Usually these are applied elsewhere in the event of a loss of focus. This can also occur when persons on a project are replaced.
