We have a new song up on our site.
It is the first song from our new album that is in production.
The song is called "Night Shades"
It is a song about ergotamine-induced absinthe-drenched visions and sensations.
Ergotamine is in almost every prepared commodity.
It is a Belladonna alkaloid.
Belladonna (pretty lady) preparations were at one time used by ladies to dilate their pupils and make them prettier.
Bd alkaloids are in cosmetics,pharmaceuticals,antacids,mouthwash,eyedrops,nose drops, soap,shampoo,ice cream, the list goes on and on.
The plant phyla Nightshades are replete with Belladonna alkaloids. Poke Salad,Henbane,Hemlock,tomatoes,and etc. are nightshades.
In high doses Belladonna is deadly.
In low doses it stimulates absorption in tissues and is a binding agent in foods and etc.
It is sometimes referred to as the "Hand of Glory" and is the primary ingredient in craft activities such as "scrying" "darkling" and "tincting" and other faith-based shamanistic arts.
Ergotamine in strong doses occurs in the molds that grow on wheat and bread. If eaten it can cause feelings of unease and paranoia.
Ergotamine is the black stuff on the heads of Fescue and other stemmy grasses. If cows eat too much green hay sometimes they will get a heavy dose of ergotamine and act crazy.
It is believed now that the "witch" hysteria of the New Englanders was caused by the improper storge of wheat and etc. and that they had consumed enough that they really were seeing witches.
So we thought we would write a song about this obscure but curious compound that is so pervasive in our society.
