Temps are due to hit 90 in NYC today, so it looks like summer has officially arrived. My music studio is in my attic, so yeah, it gets a little toasty in there during the summer months. But I will not let that deter me! Writing some killer stuff; hope I will be able to record it soon and get it out there to you guys. In the meantime, have a great summer and stay cool! Ted
Hope everybody is having a great summer! I'm writing new songs and doing some rewrites. Hope you guys are enjoying "Hold the Applause" and my recent "Shallow Water" video.
Just thought I'd share this great feedback I got from some songs I recently submitted to TAXI, and independent A&R company: "Ted - You are a really strong lyricist - at times the lyric flow and the rhymes are absolutely brilliant."
So nice to be appreciated! ;)
...for making this week my biggest ever for album sales!!! You guys rule!
And if you haven't yet ordered your copy of HOLD THE APPLAUSE, why not check it out? You won't be disappointed!
I now have 11 of the 12 songs completed for the new album. It won't be long now.... Stay tuned!
I just noticed that my last blog entry was June 2010. I guess it's better to spend that time writing songs than blogs, but even so, I felt it was time for a quick update.
Over the past year I've written 9 or 10 songs for the next album. The trick now is saving up to record it! But I'm psyched about the songs and hope to have some great new stuff for you guys to hear before too long. Also wondering whether to do another country album or a pop album this time around, as I have plenty of songs for both.
Tell your friends about NOTHING TO SEE HERE--the more copies I sell, the more $$ i can put toward a follow-up.
And as always, thanks for listening!
I was excited to be back up at #4 on the charts at ReverbNation this week, thanks in part to a discount on the album I am currently running. Hopefully a few more people will take the plunge and check it out as well.
Since my last blog, I have premiered two songs live: "You Break it, You Bought It" at Tierney's, in a stripped-down, acoustic guitar and piano version. And "Nothing To See Here" with full band--but no fiddle or slide guitar. Pretty happy with the way they turned out--and my singing ain't so bad, either. Maybe I will post them at some point if people are interested.
Still churning out song ideas, and slowly working toward completing the ones I've started. If I complete them all, I'll have enough songs for a double album.
Well, that'll do for now. I'll have more updates as we move into summer. For now, take advantage of the sale price on the album, and enjoy!
Thanks for listening,
I've had lots of good song ideas lately, but not enough time to flesh them out completely. So I have three or four songs currently in Songwriter limbo, waiting to be fleshed out. I know they won't let me rest until I make them whole, so I hope to get to them sooner rather than later. Hopefully they will see the light of day in finished form before too long.
On the other hand, I want to make sure they're as good as can be, and not rushed.
In the meantime, hope everyone is enjoying "Nothing To See Here." "Don't Touch My Heart" and "Ain't Enough Whiskey" will hopefully be making the rounds on country radio in the near future. More on that soon....
I just realized I haven't blogged in nearly a month, but that doesn't mean I haven't been promoting the album. I've acquired a bunch of new fans on jango (jango.com), and gotten some really nice comments there. I'm also working on getting a couple of songs on a sampler that will be sent out to country radio, so things are moving right along at the moment. Promotion definitely seems to be the key to all of this--well, that and really good songs.
I am working on a new song, the music is done and I have to finish the lyrics. So if all goes well, and I get to release another album, I'll have more material ready to go. At least that's the plan....
Until then, thanks for listening! More to come....
After all these years of working at it, I think I've become a pretty good songwriter.
But now comes the hard part: Promotion.
NOTHING TO SEE HERE is now available, and my wonderful friends are finally getting the chance to see what I've been working on all this time. Hopefully they'll tell more friends. And so on. And so on. And so on...
And of course I'll keep working to get the word out. Maybe do a video. If things go well, I hope to have another album out in the near future. I do have a backlog of hundreds of songs.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. For now listen, share, enjoy! And again, many thanks.
My first blog entry, my first website, and the release of my first album...which I'm not actually on.
A little history:
I taught myself to play piano at twelve, and started writing songs at seventeen. I've written more than three hundred pop, rock, and country songs, but few have ever seen the light of day.
After trying for years to place my demos of these songs with artists and publishers, I decided to take the bull by the horns and have some professional recordings made. And the good folks at Song Cellar Productions did a bang-up job. NOW I would get some songs placed for sure....
So, if you want something done right, I guess you have to do it yourself. (Or, more precisely, farm it out to some Nashville pros and THEN do it yourself.)
NOTHING TO SEE HERE is now available on CD and download at tedallenmusic.com and reverbnation.com/tedallen. Coming soon on iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, Rhapsody, and Napster.
I hope you like it. It only took me twenty-three years to make.
