Okay, so here's what happened. We showed up at Jack's with a car full of gear and see another band's name on the marquee. At this point, to my knowledge, Ken was going to be there any minute with his van full of the sound system, lighting and amps. Apparently the person who books Jack's had no record of us playing and had booked another band. We definitely were booked because I found the email confirming the booking. But, at that point it didn't really matter. The other band was on the marquee and they were going to play. It was a total bummer, because as I began to frantically get the word out, I was finding out that all these people were not only planning on coming, but they were all bringing friends...groups of friends. It was going to be an amazing crowd, that's for sure. The other bummer is that we really like playing at Jack's. It is our favorite club so far (granted, we haven't played very many yet, but I think it will always be one of our favs_). So, I hope we got the word out before folks showed up at Jack's. I'm sorry if we missed you, we didn't have contact info for everyone. I'm sure we'll be playing Jack's again and we will make sure it's booked solid next time!! In the meantime...ask your favorite dance clubs, bars and dives to have Curb Appeal play. We would love to get more gigs and have more opportunities for our friends to come on out. Thanks to everyone that was planning on coming and those who actually showed up. We'll get back out there soon and keep you all posted. Thanks again!!! Micki
Welcome to the Curb Appeal Blog!! We are beginning to play around a little more and I wanted to have a place to stay connected with our friends and fans. I'll keep you posted on what is happening with the band, report on gigs and this will also be a location where you can help spread the word about Curb Appeal. You can grab and share a widget to put onto your Facebook, myspace or web page to help promote our band. It's all about getting the word out and staying connected as well as having a blast playing, dancing and listening to classic rock.
We played at Big Daddy's on Thursday 8/19 for their new band night. We had a few folks come out to see us (thanks to our friends for your support!), plus we were able to keep the regulars around for both sets. That is pretty successful considering that the last time we played a Thursday at Big Daddy's, we only had Ken's wife (thank you Barb, for your faithfulness!). It was a good night with about 50-60 people either showing up just for us, or sticking around because they liked what they heard. We got some new recordings, they aren't all perfect, but they are a good representation of what we do live. make sure to have a listen while you're here.
This playing in a band thing is a lot of fun and we hope to see more of you out on the dance floor! We've got the tunes that will take you back to your first dance in 7th grade all the way through to your wedding reception. The 70's and 80's were great for music and we are happy to be the fun makers that bring it back for you!
So, keep checking in and steal our widgets and spread them on the net. Let's get some fans and book some gigs! If you like a particular club and think we'd be a good fit, share our page with the owner or let me know where and I'll contact them. Keep asking for Curb Appeal at your favorite watering hole and hopefully you'll see us there soon!
