Our newest release is coming out at the end of July!
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us as we began our 2012 season. We played seven shows in February, most of which were in new venues. We have also gained a member! Katie Burk joins us on fiddle and vocals and brings awesome musical expertise, as she has played in several different bands. We are excited to be a quartet!
What a great year! We've played shows in three states, recorded an album, and performed live on local radio. We've had so much fun meeting new pickers and fans!
January will mark our two-year bandiversary! We are thrilled at the milestone and to celebrate are taking that month "off" from performing in order to learn and write new material. We'll be back at a venue near you in February, so stay in touch!
It's officially the season of pumpkin flavored treats and apple cider. Autumn also means a busy schedule for us, and we couldn't be happier about that! We kicked off October with a live broadcast on WFHB. Audio from that show should be up on their website soon and we'll be sure to let you know! It went well and we were excited to have four songs live on the radio. Sam did a great job of talking to the DJ about our support of local music and independant radio, and we really seemed to hit it off with him. We're looking forward to working more with WFHB in the future. This Saturday, October 8th, we're excited to be celebrating the 2nd anniversary of our favorite Indy coffee shop, Calvin Fletcher's. We'll be playing from 10am until about 11:30 or noon. Then at 2pm, Accordians will take the stage with their blend of indie rock and Vonnegutesque lyrics. Salvador Dahli Llama Farm will follow at 4pm for a block of rock music sure to leave you dancin'. ALL BEVERAGES AND GOODIES ARE PAY-WHAT-YOU-LIKE! So come out to Fountain Square for what's sure to be a great time with great weather. Click here for more info: www.facebook.com/event.php On Sunday, October 9th, we'll be playing for mountain bikers at the 7th Annual Brown County Breakdown. We're excited to be considered a part of the Nashville, IN music scene, and are thrilled to be asked to participate in local events! Check out our schedule to see where we'll be during the rest of October. We hope to see you soon, and as always, thanks for your support of local music. WS
We're so excited to have Sam back with us! She was cooking feasts at camp this summer and then gearing up for her DIY wedding, which was at the end of August. She returns with her voice as strong as ever and her mandolin melodies flying!
Our CD, which dropped in mid-July, is about half sold out! We hope you can get your copy before that happens. Check out our show schedule so you can pick one up in person, or drop us a message and we'll get one in the mail to you. They are a mere $7 and feature 3 originals, 2 traditionals, and 1 cover. Preview track 3, "The Ballad of Samuel Bergen," here on Reverb!
Although we're not playing out as much over the summer, we're still working on our music. Sam's jamming on the mandolin up at camp whenever she's not whipping up meals, Allie's twiddling on uke, mandolin, and keyboard in addition to spending time with her guitar, and Kat is in writing mode.
We're thrilled that our CD should be finished by the end of July. We'll keep you posted for ways to get a hold of one!
I can't believe it is May already. School will be out in 4 weeks! This spring has been fun so far, and thanks so for your encouragement and support of the Sallies. From helping us find better equipment to helping with our PR to coming to shows to reading our updates, your involvement gives meaning to our music. Thanks so much!
Because of the generosity of the kind folks who have put tips in the boot at Muddy Boots or at other times offered compensation when we've played shows, we've saved enough money to produce a short CD! Recording sessions will be in May with the hope that we can start distribution this summer - ideally for Lake Luther Fest at the end of July! We are really excited about this opportunity and can't wait to see how the finished product will turn out!
May will end bittersweetly, though...Sam will be leaving us to go work at camp; Lake Luther, in fact. Kat and I will try to keep playing, though, and it will make Lake Luther Fest that much more great to be able to all play together again.
Stay tuned for more updates, and thanks for supporting live, local music.
We're honored to have the chance to play in Columbus, IN three times in April. Allie's friend Amna invited us to play for a benefit concert for Haiti and Japan, which was last weekend. On the 23rd, we'll be at the historic Crump theater downtown for a show called Courage to Climb, which is in honor of anyone who is battling or has been affected by cancer - looking forward to rocking out "Ode to the Shiatsu Massage Pad" for that one! Finally, the Bartholomew County Extension Homemakers invited us to be their annual meeting entertainment after Easter. Thanks for your support, and we'll hope to see you at a show soon!
