I received the following in an email last week:
"This is Jennifer with the Song of the Year songwriting contest. I'm contacting you about the material you submitted into the contest. Even though your material did not place as a Winner or Finalist, you still did incredibly well.. You had an entry that received the Runner Up placement as listed on your personalized placement page at http://songwriter.songoftheyear.com/songwriting-contest/karitieger.htm
The 'Runner Up' placement shows that your song received extremely high scores and was found to be competitive with the winning songs. Only the top writers receive this placement.
This page has been created for you so that you can reference your songwriting accomplishment from your website, press kit, biography, promotional materials, etc... It will remain online for years to come.
By the way you did an excellent job with your musical choreography for 'Sonatina for Violin & Piano.' Great job and congratulations on your songwriting placement!"

June will be a big month for tracking: we've already recorded violin and viola on "Bonnie's Theme," and over the next few weeks will be adding clarinet, bassoon, & trombone to "Shine So Bright" and sax to "Invitation." it's coming together!
hey people, it's all very new and a big step for me financially, but I signed with Publicist Danie Cortese this week, in an attempt to boost my online presence and gain distribution, thereby uncovering new royalty sources. while it's a bit early to say how beneficial it will prove in the long run, Danie has already encouraged me to examine and update all my existing sites, and I'm focusing more on the big picture.
two weeks ago, I spent a dream vacation in Paris. unlike my previous two visits to France, I didn't do any performing or recording this time, but the trip definitely re-energized me! now I need to go back into the studio and continue work on the new album, which is called Illumination..
as I mentioned in my last post, it is mostly in English! there are just 2 tracks in French that keep the semi classical side of my music going.
more to follow once we have gotten moving on it again!
My last release in English dates all the way back to 1998; it was my debut album, "Touch of Magic." Since then I've put out "En francais, s'il te plait" (2001), "Zazen" which was a bilingual introduction to meditation (2007), and then "Nos Mots," Our Words (2008).
While it's true that I re-released my 1996 effort "Trilogy of Nightsongs: A Romantic View of Vampires" in 2009, I do believe it's finally time for another CD in my native tongue, don't you?
So the work has begun in earnest on this next project, entitled "Illumination," though it may take awhile. More news soon!
