Hello friends & neighbors, In The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy follows the Yellow Brick Road to the dreamy Technicolor metropolis of Emerald City. Well, the street that inspired this is supposedly in Peekskill, New York... where I'll be playing a show this Thursday night! In 1868, 12 year old Frank Baum (who wrote Oz) was sent away to Peekskill's military school. At the time there was a road that led from the waterfront uphill to the school. It was made of yellow bricks and the theory goes that the young Baum arrived via steamboat, asked someone the way to the academy, and was told, "Follow the yellow brick road." Well, I won't be sending you to military school, and there probably won't be any flying monkeys... but you can surely check out what's left of this legendary road and then mosey on up to my gig for some excellent craft beer, great food, cool vibes and dreamy Technicolor fine country folk music! So, “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain” and remember, “If we walk far enough, we shall sometime come to someplace"... hope to see you in a couple of days!
