Bourbon Tears

If you don't know the story behind the song, then this might not make sense to you, so i'll re-tell it. My grandfather's high school friend Mike Kocyon wrote the lyrics about 40 years ago, but didn't know how to play an instrument. well, he passed away a few years ago, but before he left us, he gave the lyrics to my grandfather with instructions to give them to me so i could write the music to it. I finally put music to it after months of work. I drove 4 hours to the recording studio and recorded it and posted it on here, made a few cd's and emailed it out to a few people. I got a lot of compliments on it but i wasn't satisfied with people complimenting me on the song because it isn't mine. I wanted it to be more Mike's song than mine. Then one day, i found out that Mike's son Cody played guitar. He found me on myspace and we started talking about the song. we tried to figure out how to get together and work on it, but he lives in Kansas City, Missouri, and i'm from Houston. Well, decided to rejoin the army and by fate, they sent me to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, only four hours away from Kansas City. This weekend Cody came down with his brother Jake and for the first time we palyed the song together. It was incredible how his guitar part sounded just how i had imagined it. He recorded over the track I had layed down and that is what you hear on the recording now. Since then, I have done a couple of new versions of it, but none that were as sound as the version I have here. Hope you enjoy. Rob
