So last night as I was watching FB I watched a Thread roll into something crazy! One person posted about a performance they didn't appreciate and the performer responded as I anticipated he would, in a manner that I knew he would. As his thread grew the subject transferred into a more personal subject! Me!
So as I watched the friends and fans and radio personality collide head on I pondered to myself...Over the last six months I have done the best I can to maintain myself in a professional manner. I've done nothing to create drama for me or the band. Yet as I reflect it has created more drama than I have ever had. So is taking the high road the way to go or should I just be open and tell everyone what I think of them? I'm a little perplexed by the whole idea of being the nice guy and loosing!
It says in the Bible to turn the other cheek...I think maybe I have turned the cheek all the way around and I keep getting smacked on the other side!
With that, although unendorsed, I appreciate the support from our loyal fans! I know there is still a long way for me to go in this business and so much music is flowing out of me right now that a CD will be in the works soon!
I know the road I'm on is the right one for the first time in a long time. I'm just not sure where it leads...
Thanks for the listen, Scott
So in this crazy music world that has apparently overridden my ability to say the things that are on my mind weather it be in a drunken pissed off mood or in the heat of an unjust argument. I ponder whether it is all worth it or not.
If you are a true friend or fan you would tell me that whatever storm your in “I’m in it with you” and “only you know what is right from wrong, because only you were the one who was directly involved with it”. Meanwhile supporting any feelings or emotions while the storm is passing.
Some people seem to want to pass judgement and say that because of one action by one person that you will seal the deal with your career. They will pass judgement on to you without knowledge of the truth and without trying to find out the truth. Only stating that you were wrong in the way the situation was handled. I am the first person to tell you that the music I play, write and love is all from the heart. I do not play a song that I do not relate to! So you call it Outlaw Music, because it is not politically correct enough to be played on the mainstream radio. Well up until a few months ago anyway! There are several definitions of the word Outlaw:
“a lawless person or habitual criminal, esp. one who is a fugitive from the law”
Well we all know that isn’t and can’t be True of me!
“a person, group, or thing excluded from the benefits and protection of the law”
I think that would apply if you change the reference to the music rather than that of an actual legal reference.
“a person who refuses to be governed by the established rules or practices of any group; rebel; nonconformist: one of the outlaws of country music”
Enough said....I play Outlaw Music and you want me to conform to the rules and regulations of the so called Machine...I think if you listen to the words of several of the artist’s that I would call friend you would understand that conformity is what they oppose more than anything in the music world.
In corrolation with that! This United States of America was founded on Outlaws! You can go back to the Revolutionary War and find a group of individuals that fought back against Englands Rule. We are still doing it today with our Campains to Reform our Government and Campains to bring us to a new era in this country.
So with that being said I don’t understand how people can pass judgement on to a musician about being politically correct when he is Labeled an OUTLAW?
Like any other organization in this country you either believe in the cause and jump on board or you fight the cause and do everything you can to destroy it!
It’s funny to me to really find out who the people are that are on board when it all comes to the time to stand up for what you believe in.
Thanks to all of our outlaw fans! I hope that someday soon we don't have to be called Outlaw...well maybe not...I kinda like the term!
I just completed the upload to Itunes for those of you that have not had a chance to make it to the shows! You should be able to purchase it very soon! As all ways thanks for the support and see ya Friday with John Anderson!
