An 86th Birthday Feast...

My Dad turned 86 this week and the family had dinner at Italian Kitchen. Not together, but the same evening... My folks came early and enjoyed Pesto Gnocci and a Chicken and Sausage dish with peproncini and garlic sauce. My wife and two boys came later due to work. They enjoyed Chicken Tagletelle, (home-made pasta rolled with chicken, cheese and other yummy stuff), Pesto chicken pasta, and Linguini with Shrimp and Lobster in a Vodka Cream Sauce. Happy Birthday, Dad!!!

Hot Chocolate!

Highly recommend Mexican Hot Chocolate from Mindy's in Wicker Park. It's owned by a grade school friend's sister. Amazingly sweet with tons of cinnamon!

Pork Loin... Mmmm...

Last night I chose the Pork Loin with vesuvio potatoes at Italian Kitchen. The pork was moist and tender with just the right combination of fresh rosemary and basil. The potatoes had plenty of garlic. Yum!

Brunch anyone?

I know it's late for the details about Sunday, but I'm a busy guy. I enjoyed a salad with lemon chicken. Nice and lite... Late after Jazz Wave, I enjoyed hummus and some grapes. That's all that was left of the treats Julie served.

Italian Kitchen

Last Thursday, Emerald's Vegetable Lasagna sounded great with green noodles, turnips, purple potatoes, chickpea ricotta etc... and it looked good, too. Unfortunately for me, there was none left after my gig;O( Instead, I tried the Scallops in Lemon Cream Sauce. The scallops were large and tender. The sauce had just a touch of lemon. Both were served over black rice. I'd never had this hearty wild rice before.

Dinner Decision...

Played at Philly G's last night. Good crowd for two sets. Then I had to decide... What's for dinner? Gnocci with Vodka Cream Sauce won out.
