"Take Heart"

Hey friends and family! Hope you all are warm, happy and well, spring is coming! So I am currently sitting in the studio, and thought I'd give you guys a quick update as to what we've been up to. We have officially commenced the recording of a short new album for you guys. We have been working overtime on these new songs, and it's great to see them start to come to life. Last week I got to lay down drums, and after many pulled muscles and bloody fingers, we have some great drum tracks. This weekend, DC and our good friend/bass player/guitar tech/camera-ist/joke smith Erik Fintelman, and I, are recording lots of different guitar tracks, I am surrounded by a ton of really fancy looking guitar, a couple ugly ones, tons of nice amps and pedals I cannot even count. Things are sounding great! Dan is vacationing on the west coast to introduce the newborn to his great grandparents, amazing! Anyways, stay tuned for some updates with our recording, we are all unreasonably excited about all of this fun music stuff, and really hope you guys will fall in love with these songs like we have. Anyways, I apologize in advance for any spelling or grammatical errors, I'm either not smart enough to catch them the first time, or really just don't have the extra time right now. Thanks guys, Mark/fcr

Songwriting and Patience

Hey friends,

So if you haven't noticed, we have been hiding for the last few months, only surfacing to play a couple shows, see our families, eat, etc... We are spending, what seems like an endless amount of time and energy on some new musical arrangements.

It continues to baffle me, how long it takes to write some songs that we are happy with. Some of these new songs are on their 4th and 5th drafts, every new draft barely resembling the one before it. It's nice to be able to look back at the the 1st draft demo recordings of these songs, and realize that even after so much has changed, the original intentions, and message has been preserved. For a while I was scared that we would never be finished with these songs, but we all feel like we are getting pretty fleepin' close. I hope you guys will like them. All of us coming from different musical tastes and backgrounds, I think we have a little something for everyone in these new tunes!

Anyways, I'd love for you guys to hear them now, but we'd be idiots to show you all of those awful demo's with out of time drumming and out of tune guitars; so what we're going to do is record some nice fancy sounding one's, just for you guys... and soon!

See you soon!

December 6, 2010 - babies, new songs, things, stuff, words, and laughs.

Hey everypeople, whats new? We miss you guys.

So this blog is an attempt to find my way into a more diligent, strict, blogging regime, that may fail quickly, I guess only time will tell.

Despite the fact that we have not been performing too much in the last few months, we have been very busy. Our schedule seems to be quite full with some new tunes we're working on. Draft after draft, and laugh after laugh, they are starting to make a bit more sense, and we are starting to fall in love with them. We hope that after you hear them, maybe you will too.

Most importantly, yesterday something very cool happened. Our very own Mr. D.R. Smith and his very excellent wife got to experience the birth of what we like to refer to as a baby boy. We're all pretty pumped! So in the next year or two, if you see a little guy running around with big earmuffs on, at any of our local shows, you'll know what we're talking about.

Tour plans for late winter/early spring, are being planned right now, so consider it a good chance to beat the winter blues, and hear a few of our new tunes while your at it. It will also be a chance to pick up one of our handmade garments, just in case you need one(or three) more shirts.

Other than that, Christmas time is coming quick. Remember, spend less, give more, love more.
