Welcome Matt, our new drummer! After several auditions, questions & answers, humor exchanges during studio time, & numerous sticks broken(indication of hard work, *wink*), Matt was the finale! Matt has been involved in music for over 12 years, both in classical and rock music and performed in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games at the infamous Sydney Opera House. He currently resides in San Diego with his loving wife, Jess.
Commuting all the way from San Diego to LA County can be a bit daunting, however, Matt’s love for music keeps him going and playing with his band mates in the county. Being classically trained and having a wall full of cracked cymbals to prove it, Matt is a well experienced percussionist and drummer. And we are really happy to have him:).
Meet Matt at our upcoming FREE SHOW at The Slidebar in Fullerton, CA. on September 26th Sunday. We will be performing new material that night so come on out to hear the new sound! Details below…..
Where: The Slidebar Address: 122 East Commonwealth Avenue Fullerton, CA 92832 When: September 26th Sunday Time: 9pm Cost: FREE Age: 21+
We would like to announce that Josh Barbosa and Gary Cheung will no longer be with us.
Josh has been with Evertheory since the band’s inception in Dec. 2007. His creative contribution as well as his unique and excellent loosely jazz-like drumming skills have been an excellent asset to Evertheory’s sound. Josh is a multi-instrumentalist and overall has a great feel for music! He’s able to grasp any type of music and can quickly come up with awesome unique beats. Josh will now focus on playing guitar with his band, Loose Ties. Check them out!
Gary has been a great asset as well with his ability to captivate the audience by accentuating the melodic orchestration of Evertheory’s music with his synth skills. Holding a BA in music theory, Gary is able to create beautiful compositions and has abundant music business knowledge and ideas. Gary will continue with his music endeavors being involved with other projects. Check out his music at: http://www.youtube.com/templecitizen
Thank you and good luck to you both!
First of all I would like to thank everyone in promotions, the bands, the fans and the staff for the House of Blues show on June 17. The show was very fun, and we learned a lot. We are thankful and very proud that we were able to set foot on such a venerable Los Angeles stage, and play our music.
It goes without saying that many independent Los Angeles area bands dream of playing at a venue like The House of Blues. For Evertheory, it was almost an abstract concept that was out of reach and unattainable to play one of the premier LA music venues on the Sunset Strip.
Oedipus invited us to play as the opener to the show a couple of weeks back, and that was how it came to be. Jeremy Haffner, the bassist and singer of Oedipus personally extended the invitation to us since Tim was working on some art for their band. Needless to say, we were shocked and ecstatic when we got the news!
The House of Blues is a true world class venue with a world class sound system. The main reason why that is so important is because the bands don’t have to fuss over their sound or volume levels. The sound engineering staff at the venue are some of the most capable and professional staff we have ever met. In the particular case of our band, they were patient, and courteous, and they made sure that they took all of the necessary steps to help us put on the best show we could with no hassle.
The atmosphere of the House of Blues added to the ambiance of the show. Set deep within a southern-themed tin-roof shack style building and decorated from floor to ceiling with hand made art, the House of Blues leaves a lasting impression on any visitor. The food and drinks are awesome, and every time you see the main stage, it really feels like you are watching a high-end music special on television. The lighting and decor really does take you to a different place.
Musically, we had an absolute blast; the sheer size of the stage allowed us to move around more freely and be more expressive that in any venue we have played so far. In smaller venues the movement restriction forces bands to re-think how they are supposed to move and react while playing. At the House of Blues, each member had almost an entire small venue stage space to his or her self. So that was fun.
Many of our strongest supporters made their way through Los Angeles traffic into the Sunset Strip on the same day of the Lakers game #7 with the Celtics. For this we thank you each and every one. You know who you are! What this means is that many had to wait through the freeway parking lots and street re-directs to get out to see Evertheory open a show. Luckily there were many television sets throughout the bar for our Laker fan friends to watch the game as we played! The House of Blues is a music venue, but it is also a series of bars, so sports are taken care of too! haha!
We were very glad to be given a chance to perform at such a high-end venue. We will never forget the experience, and hope to play there again one day. Thanks
Gary here. A few update about the band: we have recently updated our musical gears! I just purchased a Roland V-synth GT, which is a very very powerful machine with a killer vocoder! Sharon just bought a new Schecter Ci1 Fr Hellraiser, a very nice guitar. As we grow, we will be having more upgrades so we can improve our sounds, please come to our shows to check out our new gears! Your support serves as the ultimate motivation for us to work harder. :)
Speaking of shows, we have 1 show coming up with our friends, Random Ninjas, at the Terrace restaurant in Pasadena on Oct 3rd. Come check us out!
we have uploaded some songs here on ReverbNation, go check them out and tell us what you think. We appreciate all feedbacks.
One of the songs there is called "Divided", it is one of the hardest-sounding song we have. If you like it, well guess what, we are working with TmausFilms (www.myspace.com/tmausfilms) to produce our first music video for this song!! How cool is that? We will keep you guys updated once the video is completed and uploaded on the web.
