Introduce yourself ( full name and hometown)- I am Bre Dawn. My hometown is kind of hard to decide because I have lived in a few places. I've lived Atlanta, GA, Brooklyn Park, MN, Sacramento, CA and I now reside in San Diego, CA. Each one of these places have special meaning for me so I couldn't just pick one! My relatives are all in Minnesota so I do still consider that home. At what age did you begin performing? My first performance was in second grade for a school musical. I have continued performing (singing, dancing and acting) since then in school functions and community recitals and musicals. Do you come from a musical family/background? Many of my relatives from my dad's side of the family played an instrument or sang in a choir. My grandma grew up singing in her church. Have you had formal music/vocal instruction? Yes, I started my vocal training in Junior High with a private vocal coach. I was also involved in choir, high school musicals, and community musicals. Each of these opportunities was a learning experience and helped me grow vocally and improved my performance ability. What inspires your song writing? Everyday events inspire my song writing. I think it's really important to write about real situations so everyone can relate to them! Every single person goes through moments in their life and my way of expressing them is through writing a song and coming up with a melody. With song writing anything is possible and starting a song is so much fun because you have tons of ideas and once the song is finished it is awesome to see all those ideas come together within a song! Who do you like to listen to? I listen to everything!! Some of my favorite artists right now are: Sugarland, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, George Strait, Dixie Chicks, Jason Aldean, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Billy Currington, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Cold Play, Paramore, Pink, Kate Perry, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Vanessa Carlton, Kate Voegele, One Republic, Zac Brown Band, Ready, Set, Go!, Miranda Lambert…etc! There is too many to list! Ohh! Lady Antelbellum and Little Big Town and The Used as well :) When should we expect your EP? Very soon! Everything will be complete within the next few weeks - it will be released in January! What is it like working with producer/manager Jeffery David? He is an awesome producer and person to work with. We definitely hit it off musically. He is very professional, a blast to write songs with, and is very passionate about his work! He makes sure everything is perfect and if it's not we do it over until we get it right. The experience was incredible and I am very pleased with the final results. I cannot wait to work with him again! What is your favorite song to perform live? I truly love every song on this EP! They are all amazing in their own way! I would probably say "Butterflies" or "Country Cali Girls" because they definitely have some attitude that goes into them like…."Cinderella ain't got nothing' on me" and "wearing a bikini and cowboy boots". These are just a few of some of my favorite lines! Describe your dream tour-(city,venue and opener)- I would absolutely love to tour with Sugarland or Jason Aldean and it would be amazing to play at Madison Square Garden in New York! What are your plans for 2009? Right now, I am finalizing my Debut EP called "Country Cali Girl" and within the next few months I will be working on my next EP! I have no idea what this year will bring but I definitely have some dreams :) My hope is that people will love my songs and the messages within them and hopefully I will get signed with a label! "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?" Actually, who are we not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same." This quote helps me through my rainy days! I hope you like it :) <3 Bre Dawn
I just received a phone call from my Grandmother! My song "I'm Gonna Fly" was played on the Albany Radio Station (KASM -AM) this morning (5/10) around 10:45AM. Brad Meilke (DJ) before he played the song talked about me and gave my myspace a plug! He also said that he's playing his favorite song from the CD - which was "I'm Gonna Fly". Brad also said that I did a great job on my songs and sounded like I've done this for awhile. Please visit their website at www.kasmradio.com and be sure to email KASM radio at: firstname.lastname@example.org and asking them to play more of my music!!! xoxox Bre p.s. keep checking out the news section on www.BreDawn.com for more info!! p.p.s.
