GLADIUS – Summer Tour 2013

June 20, 2013 (SAVANNAH, GA. U.S.A.) This summer, solo guitarist “Gladius” will be touring between South Carolina and Florida from June 24th through August 2nd. Gladius performs a unique fusion of classical, flamenco, and too many other influences to mention – ranging from world music to blues, jazz-fusion, and melodic metal. The full tour schedule can be found online at the artist's official website: www.gladiusmusic.com

Gladius first hit the scene in Atlanta with his self-branded 'Baroque-Ethnic-Metal-Fusion' debut, Post-Operation Demonstration (2011) – on June 14, marking the anniversary of the day he came down with crippling symptoms of nerve damage in both hands – a guitarist's worst nightmare. The album was a celebration of perseverance in spite of the condition – physically, musically and spiritually. The album has received a bit of airplay on Christian rock radio stations (both FM and internet). "Beyond the Riff" DJ Rob Duplantis (AM 1300 KSET, Beaumont, TX) described the Gladius sound as being: "The first type of music that actually goes 'Beyond the Riff' – 5 thumbs up."

Since then, the composer relocated to Savannah, and has focused more on his solo-acoustic live performance. The result? A rather fresh and spontaneous, often improvisational approach that sounds less like classic rock and metal shredders Yngwie Malmsteen or Eddie Van Halen, and a lot more reminiscent of ethnic, Spanish-flamenco guitar and such artists as: Paco de Lucia, Al Di Meola, and Rodrigo y Gabriela. Fans have thus christened him, “Flamenco Malmsteen.”

Gladius is also not afraid to put technology to effective use (perhaps a trick inspired by Christian guitarist Phil Keaggy), incorporating a Digitech DL-8 delay / looper pedal into his solo concerts, allowing him to 'loop' (record) and layer brief passages on the spot. This technique is demonstrated in the tracks “Flamenco Frenzy: II” and “Variation on Beethoven's 7th Symphony: II” from his recent all-acoustic release, LiveWire June 2012. GLADIUS: Musical Mad Scientist With a Medical Condition

August 21, 2012 (SAVANNAH, GA. U.S.A.) I think it's safe to say that just about every last one of us would have given up any hope for a complete recovery--5 years into rehab. But Gladius, virtuoso-guitarist of Savannah, GA hasn't given up--he's endured. After 5 years of a daily, religiously-structured physical therapy routine (partically therapist-prescribed, partially self-devised), and 7 years since the initial onset of chronic neurological illness, the 'musical mad scientist' still perserveres. The condition first plagued the young guitarist on June 14, 2005--literally overnight. 6 years, 4 surgeries, 1500+ physical therapy routines, and countless prayers later, Gladius released the aptly-titled Post-Operation Demonstration EP on June 14, 2011. But the condition still persisted. Nevertheless, the composer pushes on in 2012. Gladius has now officially launched his first offical fan-funding campaign. Log onto http://www.indiegogo.com/gladius to see how you can bring an all-new epic Gladius studio release to life--dealine: October 2nd, 2012. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to legendary Californian shredder Jason Becker (of David Lee Roth fame). "Jingle Bell SHOCK!" -- The Next Christmas Classic

Rising American Guitar virtuoso Gladius unleashes some seriously innovative -and MELODIC-shredding in the new "SHOCKING" (and soon to be classic) Christmas single, "Jingle Bell SHOCK!"

Epic, Brian May inspired 5-part lead guitar harmonies, sick sweep arpeggios rivaling the likes of Malmsteen, and a rockin' & "rifftastic" arrangement--keep the listeners at the edge of their seats--or, perhaps "shocking" around the Christmas tree.

After 40 long nights in the laboratory, the mad scientist reveals the results of his most SHOCKING experiment.

Tune in here to witness for yourselves--if you dare!:

POST OPERATION DEMONSTRATION

JUNE 14, 2011 (ATLANTA, GA. U.S.A.) The long anticipated debut studio release from GLADIUS! Just a few short years ago, it appeared that the ultimate dream of pursuing a music career--his true passion--might have been over all too soon for Gladius. A mysterious medical condition manifested its symptoms literally overnight. On June 14, 2005, while studying classical guitar at Georgia State University's School of Music under professor John Sutherland, the aspiring virtuoso suddenly suffered from a rather crippling case of nerve damage, greatly hindering the sensation and dexterity of both hands…..
