St. Paddy's Day with Blue Fiddle

Greetings to all! Although it is still February, we here in the Ozarks are gladly welcoming spring to our mountains. We know there will still be a few cold days but the worst of winter is behind us. Blue Fiddle is gearing up for our busiest time of the year: Saint Patrick’s Day! We have more requests to play than there are days in the month of March! People need to book early and remember that Irish music is great any time of the year! Hey, try booking us in May or October! This year Blue Fiddle is once again performing at the North Texas Irish Festival in Dallas March 2nd through the 4th . Held at the Fair Park/Cotton Bowl complex, this long-running (30 years and counting!) festival is the largest cultural event in the South with an expected attendance of 80,000. It features world-class music, Scots/Irish food and fashion, vendors, Celtic horse demonstrations, Irish Wolfhounds galore, and foot-long corndogs that Johnny Squeeze has been dreaming of since last year! Blue Fiddle is honored to be part of such an inspired event and we will be performing all three days of the fest—se our ReverbNation schedule for details. On Thursday March 8 we will be in North Little Rock for the “Live at Laman” concert series at the William F. Laman Library. From their website: “’Live at Laman,’” one of our most popular programs, offers an evening of musical entertainment every second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. We've hosted some of the best music groups Arkansas has to offer, and our packed houses are proving that "Live at Laman" is the place to be when it comes to quality entertainment for our patrons.” The band is anxious to return to the Little Rock area as it has been a few years since our last appearance there at the Bloom Festival. It is rumored that the show is going to be recorded by public radio station KULR—we’ll let you know of any developments. Ever since the inception of Blue Fiddle, we have celebrated St. Paddy’s Day with the children and staff of Mountainburg Elementary. This year will be no exception. We always have a wonderful time playing for the kids and if you have never heard several hundred pre-teens shouting at the top of their lungs, nothing prepares you for the sensation. Imagine a jet plane taking off in a school gym and you’re getting close! We may be unknown in many parts of the world but at Mountainburg Elementary we are rock stars! This year we will be there at 2pm, March 16th. That evening we will be at R. Landry’s New Orleans Café in beautiful and happening downtown Ft. Smith, Arkansas. We always have a great time at Landry’s and this year will be no exception I am sure. That is Friday night and Saturday night will be the pub crawl in downtown. A pub crawl on St Paddy’s Day proper—oh the green beer will flow that night. Make sure and celebrate the beginning of the Irish New Year with Blue Fiddle. In other news, recording sessions for our new CD continue with renewed vigor. We have five songs in the can, as they say, and have several others worked out and ready to record. We are very proud of the new material and believe that this is going to be a stunner! No idea when it will be done but we will let you know of our progress. All the best to all of you! Cheers Blue Fiddle John, Tom, and Joe
