In the unlikely event

In the unlikely event that you did not know already, you can get my new album, Welcome to Washington, at the link below: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/welcome-to-washington/id667557230

Now that I live in NY I'm getting used to being a little more social. For some strange reason, everyone seems to talk to me here and it's a lot harder to melt into the woodwork. I also notice that I'm not dressed in proper NY state-wear. I haven't figured out what that exactly is yet, but I'm sure I will eventually. When you don't have television and you mostly shop at thrift stores it's hard to keep up with fashion. Haha.

Our state insect

Song for our state insect is drafted... Below are the lyrics. I'd like to record it as a duet, but I'm not totally sure how that would work yet, because some parts are tricky to sing. Is it really mostly about the Green Darner Dragonfly? You decide. :)

DFly: What do u call me? I know you’ve got a name for this What do u cost me? Human: I know you’ve got a pain for it And where you’re paper thin You move so fast you dart alight And where you’re solid You hide the spirit of a fight

DFly: I’ve got a place, I’ve got a place Where you can think all that you are I’ve got a name that you can say Together: Erase it

Human: I saw you crawling, 300 million years ignite Dfly: Atmosphere calling The warmth evokes our ancient flight Human: From Grass Lake slip away Abandon everything today DFly: Survival in our eyes We’ll become predators not prey

I’ve got a place, I’ve got a place that’s Better than your words I’ve got a name that you can say Together: Erase it

And summer commences

I finally finished drafting the song I've been trying to get done for months on the Chinese expulsion from Tacoma for the upcoming Washington State album. It was hard to get the lyrics right, but I think I'm mostly satisfied with them now... Tonight I have to finish drafting a song on the ever-elusive Northwest Passage. Ahh, all the hopes the Northwest has held for such diverse people throughout time!

It doesn't feel like summer in Olympia yet (rainy and 60) but we leave for NY on July 3rd, so hopefully we can catch up on summer out there (and then maybe there will even be some summer left in August when we return to Oly.?) Here are the new lyrics below... Lots of allusions you may have to look up; couldn't quite fit a whole history lesson in unfortunately.

The Tacoma Method

Company town Terminus of North Pacific Railroad A committee of 15 Alpha Opera House Resolution And the newspaper war Finally broke into the street

Chorus Delay is just weakness Unpardonable sin and the Governor nowhere A mob in raincoats ever in his heart

Bridge How Lung, Sing Lee, Hop Lee, Goon Gau Yuen Nome, Jam Kee, Yon Fong, Wing Sing, Quong Chong Yuen, Mee Nome, Tai Wo Tong

Chorus Delay is just weakness Unpardonable sin and the Governor nowhere A mob in raincoats ever in his heart

Company town Terminus of American dream A committee, a machine Burning tenements on the wharf Ashen homes Pay the ticket to go On Lake View Junction Tracks you lay

Chorus The shrieking shop whistles Clubs threats & pistols and the Governor nowhere A mob in raincoats ever in our hearts
