It is because if all of You that I have been able to reach the Top 10 in the overall charts of my hometown of New Iberia, La and a number 2 ranking in the Hip-Hop category! The next step is to get under that 1,000 mark overall in the USA and under 10,000 in the world. So I have committed to not 1 but 2 ways to "Help Myself Through Helping Others."
I qualified for a competition to perform at Hard Rock through Reverbnation. Basically every time a person from within 100 miles of New Orleans Hard Rock downloads my song from http://www.reverbnation.com/contests/1505/artist/447942 I get a vote towards performing in the live competition. So can you plz go download my song & share this with others so I can finish in the top 5?? Anyone can go get the download, just need my Louisiana / Mississippi / Alabama Gulf Coast Fans to download / vote.
Secondly, I have joined "Love, Hope, Strength," an " International, Music-centric cancer charity dedicated to saving lives, one concert at a time." Feel free to go to www.lovehopestrength.org for more details. So now, for every individual purchase made on my profile playlist, 50% of those proceeds will go to this charity.
So "Helping Myself Through Helping Others" is in full swing! Join Me! And thanks for your support!
Yeah that's right! They done messed around in positive ingeniusness at Centenary College in Shreveport and given me MY OWN RADIO SHOW!!! It's up to ME what gets played, it will be MY voice you will hear over the radio (KSCL 91.3fm Shreveport) and internet (http://extra.centenary.edu/kscl/) airwaves Every Wednesday night from 10pm to midnight (Central American Standard Time - that's 11pm on the East Coast, 9pm Mountain, 8pm West Coast, and 4am average time in Europe) called Urban Flosarus. Now, I first want to say that as an artist myself, Yes I was thinking of yall's artistic integrity when I got this time slot, as this is the beginning of the "Safe Harbor" hours according to the FCC. In other words, profanity is allowed during this time (I will be checking with Centenary to see what they say, I'm just going off of the FCC rules as of now) but I do expect all artists, managers, whoever to show their since of business and keep the cursing to a minumum. Don't be cursing just for the sake of cursing. Another thing, this station from my own interview experiences with them, is a accurate documentor when it comes to what is played. There are College Radio Charts out there that are just as important, if not more important than the commercial charts we are fed weekly. So if you are just trying to get that one hit single out there, then it better be on an official CD single, I don't think I will be able to accept emailed mp3 songs. I want the CDs so that they can be documented in the station's library so the option of future plays by other DJs can happen. Makes it easier for you or a fan of yours to request the song both during my show and on other people's show. ****NOTE CHANGE**** I have been introduced to the concept of bringing in my laptop and developing my own playlist and plugging my laptop into the system, so I WILL be able to accept emailed mp3s. I personally would rather for documentation on spinitron (and to include in the Centenary Library for other and future DJs) CDs that are part of an existing or soon to be released future project. Bottom line is this: I am part of a new 2010 movement where artists in Hip-Hop, Jazz, R&B, Soul, Reggae, etc can avoid going through the corporate commercial red tape through the expanding of College Radio Shows. If you want to spread your music's recognition, or you want to be able to hear music that would not be repeated 5 times a day because of some national corporate playlist, then send in your music to me, and/or tune in!
As of this writing I have 10 shows now scheduled from August to November in 6 States and 2 Countries!
