Be sure to follow the first instruction (settings: allow unknown sources) for a successful download. __ We have a pocketful of shows we'd love to see you at before the year's end. Then it's time to hibernate for a few months. But don't sleep too long, there's so much excitement coming in Spring 2014: The launch of our new album, new video, new website, as well as concerts in airplane hangars, dinner theaters, and even one backed by the recently-crowned State Champions, Winneconne High School Band! Wow.

New Photos for Saxaphone Day!

[originally posted 6 Nov 2013]

Dear [SOUL]mate,

Hopefully you're finding plenty of reasons to celebrate life today. According to several leading websites devoted to unique and bizarre holidays, today is Saxophone Day! The inventor of this classy woodwind, Adophe Sax, was born on this day 199 years ago. Let's all take a minute to bask in the golden glow and brassy breeze of this very saxy instrument.

Are you a beboppin', mile-a-minute Charlie "Bird" Parker fan, or do you prefer the soul-slicing, everlasting tones of Clarence Clemons? And where would popular music be without those indelible sax lines in songs like "Thrift Shop" or "Rumpshaker"?

Let's not forget about the Smooth Operators very own saxman, Ross Catterton. Ross has been dazzling audiences with his sax playing, singing, and fancy footwork since the formation of the band. He's also been working on an album of his own original music, and getting some favorable press (insert link to SCENE newspaper).

In other news, we recently had a wonderful photo shoot with Sharon Cekada from the Post Crescent. Some of these photos which will be a part of our forthcoming new album are on our website now. ( http://slyjoemusic.com/miles-and-miles-to-go-photos )

WSR Reviews Sly Joe show @ Montague's

"...Despite the copious amounts of wine that was served, I couldn’t leave my seat his entire set because it was just THAT good...See SlyJoe solo or see him full-band because either way, you will get an experience you’ll want to replay in your head over and over again...."

Soundtrack to Summer Days

Dear [SOUL]mates, I hope you've been having a superb summertime. We always enjoy providing the soundtrack to summer days and summer nights, you could say it's our forte. With the changing season coming soon, here's three more good reasons to get out and enjoy this weekend: FRIDAY 8/28 - SUDS & SONG We'll be playing at the Clearwater Harbor while you and your friends (of legal drinking age) enjoy samples of Landshark Beer, courtesy of the Landshark Girls. Sponsored by SCENE newspaper (check August issue for a Smooth Operators crossword!) SATURDAY 8/29 - APPLETON FARMER'S MARKET College Avenue becomes a pedestrian-only zone until noon, devoted to fresh local produce, and other homemade goodies. Meet us at the Heid Music stage, on the east end of the market. SUNDAY 8/30 - JIMMY SEAS PATIO Our last summer patio gig of 2009. What a great season it's been. So come and share one more sunset with us. We'll be playing 6-9pm. _____________ In other news, California recording artist Kyleellen will be singing three of my songs for her upcoming album; Ins & Outs, Surrounded by the Heart, and Beach Party! She is a big advocate of the healing powers of music, specifically by singing everyday, and she's publishing a book soon too. Christian Davis is producing the album. He's worked with some pretty amazing musicians as well...Boyz II Men, Christina Aguilera, NKOTB, Destiny's Child, Backstreet Boys, the list goes on... I'll let you know when the new version of these songs is available to the public. Much Love,

Sly Joe & the Smooth Operators
