Happy New Year!

I wish you all a fantastic 2014.

Spring News

Happy Spring! With another winter in Colorado behind us, I am looking forward to the green grass and risen flowers of spring and summer. Wishing that you all are well, I'm writing this to let you know my creative life continues to flourish with new songs, recordings, performances, video projects and more.

My new album of songs continues to take shape under the direction of my amazing producer Kevin Clock, who is a master engineer and owner of COLORADO SOUND STUDIOS of Denver. Although this has turned out to be a much longer process than anticipated, the results are just astounding and I am very proud to know that everyone involved is doing the best work of their lives. I will keep you posted on our progress.

In just a few short days my years of work with my good friend PAUL TAYLOR to create a film archive of the vanishing Australian aboriginal culture will go "live." The Yubulyawan Dreaming Project web site will be published for all to see. This project has been in the works for a long time. It is an effort to preserve some of the culture of the Wardaman people of Northern Australia, allowing easy access for this community's children and future generations to connect with their culture, in addition to any other interested parties as well. This is a culture whose wisdom and understanding of this world stretches back many thousands of years.

On a musical performance note, I was very happy to be invited to perform with the internationally known Colorado singer/songwriter CHUCK PYLE in a special songwriters circle performance last week in Colorado Springs. My songs were well received, and I was pleased to find new friends and musical connections.

I will close by mentioning my upcoming 7PM performance this Saturday evening (March 23) at the Widow McCoy's in Loveland, Colorado. This is a new venue for me, so if you are local and not otherwise engaged this weekend, please come say hello and visit for a spell. It's a free show!

With grateful appreciation for your continued friendship and support,

Russ Hopkins

making music

Writing, performing, recording... all linked yet so different. All part of my creative circle. Where does the new stuff come from? Why do I feel compelled to capture the inspiration and make something out of it?

Fakin' It Until Yer Makin' It

I feel so blessed with the opportunities I have been given. Keep your eyes open. There is so much to be grateful for.

Fire on the mountain (Fort Collins)

Colorado, like anywhere I guess, extracts a high price sometimes when we make her our home. A horrifying inferno has crept up to the door step of our beloved city of 150,000 souls. Please keep our friends and neighbors in your thoughts.
