Debbie's Spring 2014 Music News

Hello Friends!

Hope all is well with you and yours. It’s been a few months since the last official newsletter but as usual I’ve been busy making music. There are new recordings, new songs to come, and even a video, so let’s get to the news: I recently completed a second song for my upcoming country EP with co-writer, guitarist and producerJeffery Marshall called You Can’t Unpull A Trigger, and I’m super proud of this one. Jeff and the guys created a kick-ass track that you will want to turn up to 11 ;-) Once again Andrew Megna played drums and Kevin Chown added bass, Bryan Dobbs, who you last heard on my song Memory Lane, played both banjo and dobro, and Clayton Severson added killer harmonica and backup vocals. I am so lucky and grateful to get to work with such talented guys. Jeff and I have a few more songs in the works for the EP and I’m hoping to release it later this year. In the meantime let me know what you think of You Can’t Unpull A Trigger!

You may remember in my last newsletter that guitarist John DePatie, pianist Forrest Powell, and I completed a song that needed to sound like it was written and recorded in the 1920/30’s for a music production library and we came up with He’s Gone. Well, we are working on another one and I find it highly enjoyable trying to create music that sounds like it’s from another era. I’ll keep you posted on when you can hear it but all I can say at the moment is, it involves a train. So, sticking with the "songs from another era" theme I am also recording some gospel spirituals, which were written before 1922. The first two songs we are working on are Ain’t That Good News and Down By The Riverside. Working on these songs with me will be John, Forrest, Jeff and Arnold Robia. Another song that was recorded since my last note to you is the classical piece Pie Jesu. It has been many years since I sang anything classical and in Latin no less! Forrest asked me to sing to the beautiful music track he was producing and it was both challenging and rewarding. Did I mention it was in Latin?!?! Meanwhile, back in the world of modern music I recently had the honor of co-writing a song called Halfway To Heaven with Michael ONeill. Michael is a multi-talented and prolific singer/songwriter who has worked with a who’s who of artists across several genres of music. He’s also a master tunesmith and hell of a nice guy, so for me it was a very inspiring writing session. Michael is currently touring in support of his latest CD I Like It Like That. I hope you will give him a listen. I'll keep you posted on when you can hear Halfway To Heaven. For the complete version of this post please visit my website or sign up for the newsletter.

As always your support is greatly appreciated. My best to you all, Debbie

Debbie's Nov 2013 Music News!

Hi Kids,

I know it's been 6 months since the last official newsletter and I'm very sorry about that! Hopefully you've been following me over at my facebook page where it's just a little easier to do those quick updates. I have lots of fun stuff to tell you but before I do I’d just like to take a moment to say, as we head into this season of gratitude the thing I am most grateful for this year are my friends. They have been so incredibly supportive this year when I have needed them the most and for that I am truly thankful. I sincerely hope each of you is as blessed in friendship as I have been. :-) Ok, let's get to the news!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well it's that time of year and the new Christmas song is here! This year we did a kickin' blues-rock version of Please Come Home For Christmas. Speaking of amazing friends, I have some incredibly talented ones who lent their gifts to this track and I could not be more grateful to them. This track simply would not have happened if it weren't for these wonderful guys, especially Jeffery Marshall who produced the track and played that killer slide guitar; Lao Tizer who added some soulful piano and organ; Kevin Chown who did that cool bass thing he does; and Andrew Megna who kept it kickin' on drums. Please Come Home For Christmas is available now on iTunes along with all my other holiday songs, It Wasn't His Child, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and Winter Wonderland! Collect them all! As with all my cds the artwork was done by my good friend Orlando Rios/CBL Studios.
In the last update I told you about Sugar & Rain, the first new country song in a couple of years. While this song isn't available for sale yet but it's been busy making me and co-writers Courtney Leigh Heins and Jeffery Marshall proud. A few months ago it received an great review over at Indie-Music.com and just recently it received an Honorable Mention and came in in the Top 6 of the country category in the West Coast Songwriters Contest. Once again, Jeff produced the track and played all the guitars and Andrew Megna played drums. It should be available for sale next year but in the meantime you can listen to it anytime on my website.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Recently I had to opportunity to work on a unique project for the production music library I write for. They needed original songs that sounded like they were written and recorded in the 1920's/1930's. I'm a big history freak so I had a blast researching the era and the music. Then I came up with a melody and some lyrics and brought it over to my pal John DePatie who added guitar, reminding me that there was no such thing as electric guitar in the 1920's so he recorded one of his classic jazz guitars on a mic and it gave it the perfect sound. Then we sent the whole thing to Forrest Powell who nailed the ragtime piano style and sound and put the whole track together. The song is called He's Gone and we even added the vinyl fx on this version for that classic early recording sound.

As always your support is greatly appreciated. Nobody could do all this alone and as I said, I've been especially blessed by my amazing friends so I hope you will check out their websites and show them some love! All my singles and cds are available at iTunes, CDBaby, and other legit music sites. Please be sure to leave me a rating or review as this will increase my chances of having my music discovered by others. Here's the link to my Facebook Music Page if you'd like to join me there. Hi Kids,

Hope you are all doing well. I can't believe it's already April. I've been busy writing and recording and just wanted to send you a quick note about a couple of new songs you can take a listen to on my website.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The newest song is called Sugar & Rain and is the first new country song in a couple of years. This is a co-write between Courtney Leigh Heins, Jeffery Marshall and Me! Andy Megna played drums and of course, Jeff produced the track and played all the guitars - be sure to check out that bad ass slide guitar! I am super proud of this one. Hope you will let me know what you think! The other song is You Won't Let Me In. We finished this one a little earlier this year. Jeffery Marshall and I co-wrote this one and once again, Jeff produced the track. This one is more of a rock track. Thrilled with how this one turned out and hope you will enjoy it too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Nobody could do all this alone so for more on my amazingly talented friends, please check out their websites!

Courtney Leigh Heins just released her new cd Bright Blue World and it's another great collection of smart lyrics and catchy melodies in the Americana vein.

You can check out Mr. Marshall's facebook page for a complete list of all his projects or for some kick ass rockin' blues check out his band Bleeding Harp! They have a few new songs and videos like Live to Ride and Breakin Me Down that I highly recommend.

Debbie's Holiday 2012 E-News!

Hi Kids,

Once again it’s been a little longer than planned between newsletters but the good news is it’s not because I’m doing less music, I’ve actually been doing more! Quite a bit of it has been for the music production library, more info on that below, but I’m very excited to bring you two new releases, which are available on iTunes, CD Baby, and other legit music sites. I also hope many of you have been keeping up with me on my facebook music page. It’s a great way to keep up with what’s going on with me on a more regular basis.

New Releases! - Believe is now available at iTunes and my holiday release this year is Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.

As you know, you’ve been able to listen to my song Believe on my website, but now you can own a copy to take with you on your iPod or smart phone. I co-wrote Believe with Rye Randa and Jeff Foxworth (aka The Ontic). Rye produced this new track and several of my other releases including my cds Rustic Heart, and Good As Gone, and my single Hallelujah. My holiday single this year is the classic Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas written by Ralph Blane and Hugh Martin. We kept it simple and sweet, just like the song’s message, with acoustic guitars by Jeff Marshall and violin by Aubrey Richmond. Jeff also produced the track. Artwork was once again done byOrlando Rios/CBL Studios. I hope it reminds you of your best Christmas memories with friends and family who are near and dear to us...

Don’t forget to check out my other holiday releases It Wasn’t His Child and Winter Wonderland, which are also available to add to your holiday collection. More holiday music…

If that’s not enough holiday music for you, you can hear even more Christmas songs on my website. Jeff Marshall and I recorded God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, The First Noel, What Child Is This and O Holy Night for our music production library. These versions are not available for sale but you can stream them anytime from my website. Other musicians who played on these tracks include, Kevin Chown,Adam Gust and Andy Megna. As with all songs we do for the library we are never sure where the songs will eventually end up, a movie? a TV Show? a commercial? Who knows, but will keep you posted and in the meantime you can always enjoy them on my website.

As always your support is greatly appreciated. Remember all my cds are available at iTunes, CDBaby,, and other legit music sites. Please be sure to leave me a rating or review as this will increase my chances of having my music discovered by others. Here's the link to my Facebook Music Page if you'd like to join me there. Debbie's May 2012 E-News!

Hi kids! Wow, once again it's been longer than I planned between newsletters. Sorry about that. Life has been crazy lately. Ok, crazier! However, I have managed to get some new songs done and the links to listen are below. There is also a very special event being held in Somoma Country to benefit one of my oldest and dearest friends that I want you to know about. So let's get to it! First up is a new song I co-wrote with the very talented Mr. Jeff Marshall. (He likes to be called "Mr." so I humor him ;-) The song is called Fly Me Higher and was written for the music production library where we are both writers. This one took a while to write but we are very happy with the way it came out. Check it out and let me know what you think. Next is a new version of Leaving the Fairytale Behind. This was a song I co-wrote with the amazing Athena Marie and was sung brilliantly by Jenna O'Gara. The original version was a tween pop sound but the new version is a little more grown-up acoustic version. I've wanted to do my own version of this song since we wrote it. I've performed it live several times and finally had the opportunity to record it. Once again, Mr. Marshall did the recording for me. On May 20th at 6pm at the historic Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, CA - my old stomping grounds - there will be a concert and silent auction to benefit one of my oldest, dearest and most talented friends, Allyson Paige. Allyson is a much beloved singer and songwriter in the Northern California music scene and is noted for her powerful and soulful voice and perfomances. While Allyson is currently battling cancer - successfully I might add - as a self-employed musician even with health insurance, the bills are piling up. Allyson's friends have put together this wonderful evening with some great auction items and I can promise you there will be some big names performing. Allyson will also be performing as well. Here is page set on facebook with all the info Rally for Ally. Tickets are only $15. I hope if you are in the area you are will attend. If you are not in the area but would still like to help you can do so by purchasing one of Allyson's cd's by visiting her website Allyson Paige. As always your support is greatly appreciated. Remember all my cds are available at iTunes, CDBaby, and Amazon. Please be sure to leave me a rating or review as this will increase my chances of having my music discovered by others. Debbie's November 2011 E-News!

Hi kids!

Once again, it’s been a few months since my last update – it seems I’m updating by season this year – so I hope you are all having a wonderful fall! Life has just been crazy lately and I feel like I’ve been on a non-stop version of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride - somebody stop this thing, I want to get off! I’m afraid I have to admit that I’ve been better at keeping up with my Facebook Music Page then my newsletter but that’s just because they made it so easy to do – damn you Zuckerberg! However, I have certainly not forgotten about the wonderful peeps on my mailing list! So here’s the special update just for you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ New Christmas song! Just released last week and available at iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon and more is my version of It Wasn’t His Child. When it was time for me to record my latest holiday song I really wanted to do something acoustic and this song immediately came to mind. Written by Donald Skip Ewing, it’s not as well known as many other songs but I like the many meanings to the lyrics. Jeff Marshall, who also produced the track, played the incredibly beautiful guitars you hear. The artwork is by my long time artist Orlando Rios of CBL Studios. You can hear the full version on my website and it will be appearing on several radio stations as well. I hope you enjoy this year's holiday single! You can listen to it here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More new music! Also available for your listening pleasure though currently not available for purchase is You Saved Me. I told you about this song in a previous newsletter when we were writing it. It’s now been recorded and delivered to the library where we hope it will be placed in a film or tv show. My co-writers on this song are Michelle Krell Malone and Jeff Marshall. You can listen to it here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ASCAPlus Award! In September, I was awarded my 5th ASCAPlus Award for songwriting from the American Society of Composer and Publishers. It’s just a little acknowledgement of my work for the previous year but I’ll take it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As always your support is greatly appreciated. Remember all my cds are available at iTunes, CDBaby, and Amazon. Please be sure to leave me a rating or review as this will increase my chances of having my music discovered by others. And of course, I also have the aforementioned Facebook Music Page for if you’d like to join me there. Big changes coming to the website before the new year as well! And one more thing before I go… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Carpe Kilimanjaro – a worthy cause! My friend Zach Jordan who produced and directed my Good As Gone music video is working on a film that is both an incredible journey and a labor of love. As he explains it far better than I ever could, I hope you will take a minute to check it out here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season!!! - Debbie
