Bought myself a new pc, recording hardware and software!...Yup...dragged myself into the 21st century in regards to tech...Working out how to use and put it all together now... Talking to some-one about management, sounds good, but I'll be having a close look at it before committing anything...They also have links to a pretty large agency, So Mo on the road in the near future hopefully!!! While I now have the latest in hi-tec whizzbangery...I'm reaching back into the past...Way back...to find the sound I've been looking for...A cigar box guitar!...This one will have both a pizeo and a P90 mini humbucker...(Drools like Homer) allowing a greater range of sounds...I'm gonna take it back to what it was before blues became a standard 12 bar turnaround...When what you played was exactly what you felt with no regards to anything else...because you were one man...Your guitar...And your blues...Nothing more or less...I'm looking forward to another musical journey...Thanks for sharing it with me...Regards...Mo.

Mo.

Recording a "live" CD

Heading in to play a set at Mars Hill cafe on Friday May 7th...Going to record it and use that material to release a Cd...

Because it is Mars Hill I can put a couch on stage to sit and play on with a single lamp at one end to give the audience the feeling that they are in my music room adding to the already intimate feel of the venue...

The set will feature one acoustic and possibly two Reso's if the 2nd arrives in time...And feature a range of feels and styles...Hardest part is that rather than deciding on just a set list you have to decide what to play based on the fact it will be an album...

The sound desk is firewired to a workstation where Tracker is used to capture the sound...I will be using a mic as second pickup on all guitars and mikes in the room to capture ambient sound also...

From there it will be into the MH editing/recording room for edit and mastering...Beats the hell out of the cost of studio time and they supply all the gear...

I'm excited about having a good quality Cd to release at last!...Lovin music with a wild passion...Playin it the same way...Drop by on the night if your local and have time...And check out Mars Hill cafe...They're on reverbnation...Find em in my fan section... Regards...Mo.

Songs available to buy!

Uploaded three tracks you can now buy!...New tracks underway and hope to have some more posted here soon...Thanks to all my new friends for listening to my tracks and leaving positive comments...Standby for more Resophonic madness soon...Regards...Mo.

New track

The new track is comin' along well...Tidying up the guitar and playin with a few levels before adding vocals...Captured some great sounds that paint a picture before the guitar starts...Pure swamp blues...Hear them Gators splashin'...Lovin' it...Mo.

Mo Defoe ft Mother Nature...

Spent some time last night recording a thunderstorm goin on here...Captured the rain...Some thunder and the frog chorus that was goin on out front...Gonna use it all in recording MY take on "when the levee breaks"...I'm looking forward to havin some fun playing around with this one...Stay tuned for further updates...Mo.

Waz been happenin'?

Well I got me a new Guitar a couple of months back...A tricone resophonic...Called her Miss Assippi...And she makin' some big changes in my sounds and what I'm playing and writing...She's even led me into doing a take of the 1929 "when the levee breaks" Recorded by "Kansas Joe Mc Coy and his wife Memphis Minnie (she was no slouch on guitar) they were the 1st married couple to record together...The song has been covered by John Campbell...Tori Amos...Led Zeppelin...And others...If you Google the track you can hear the original version...My take is done in slide on the reso and has been "Mo Defied" naturally...

Been playing heaps in the city and surrounds...Been asked to do some Saturday sessions at the Hornsby Inn so keep an eye out for those in the coming weeks if your local...I played at an open mic/jam session there last night and met a heap of new muso's including Gilbert Whyte...A genuine traveling troubadour he covers from the central coast down...A great talent who writes/plays/sings finely crafted songs...

There's a Songs alive showcase on at Mars Hill Cafe 24th of this month...If your in the area then drop by and have a listen or a play...If you live in or are coming to Sydney and looking for venues get in touch...They are on reverbnation and are in my reco/fan page...

Heaps of new material I'm working on and heaps of recording to do...may have to pull back on goin' out to play and dedicate some time to getting this CD finished...Theres enough material for three...Just not enough money...Thanks for having a listen to my sounds...I hope ya doin' what ya love and love what ya doin'...I sure the hell am...Mo.
