Just returned from an awesome weekend on the Mainland. We played Friday night at Alouette Correctional Centre 7-9pm, Saturday at Surrey Pre-Trial Centre 1030-3:30pm, and House of James Abbotsford from 9-10pm. Total play time about 7 hours. We had a blast, and were greatly blessed and encouraged bringing the gospel message into the jails through our songs, and to introduce "gospel blues" to the audience at House of James. Thank you Lando of HOJ, and JD Miner Band for offering time for us to cap off the weekend in such a great venue!
Thanks to the many folks who came out to hear Gospel Blues Church at the Fair Sunday morning Sept 1. We threw in some of our new songs (John the Revelator, Come Out of the Wilderness) and we appreciate the great response.
A fabulous weekend bringing the Gospel Blues in 4 sets at the Provincial facility in Surrey and later that day, to a fun crowd at the House of James in Abbotsford. Only downer was the last minute cancellation of our Friday evening session at the Fraser Valley Correctional Institute, thanks to new federal government policy that interprets any music presentations not done by "religious organizations" as concerts and inappropriate for prisons. Johnny Cash you would not make it into Canada's prisons.
What an awesome time this year. Very hot, but very cool. Great performers, including Glen Kaiser band and Phil Keaggy, First Born Live and John Lee Sanders. So great to be part of the lineup. Don't miss it next year!
We're excited to be invited back to the "Back to Gospel Blues Festival for 2012. This is going to be a cool event, with a branching out this year to include Country Gospel and Gospel Rock. Don't miss it this time!!! See you on Sunday afternoon of the August 3-4 weekend in Chilliwack!
An awesome weekend experience by the Band December 2-3 as we played at Lando Klassen's House of James Coffee House (Abbotsford) Friday night and then on Saturday to 5 separate groups of inmates at the Surrey Correctional Centre. We wers truly blessed by the responses we received and the opportunity given to us to plant seeds of hope through our blues music ministry.
Dr Bones is pleased to announce the upcoming release of its new CD "Come To My Rescue." Recorded live at the 2011 Saanich Fair. All rights and permissions have been obtained for the 6 songs that are not our original tunes, and we're looking forward to using sales proceeds to fund our trips over to the Lower Mainland institutions.
We're excited to be putting the finishing touches on a CD of our performance at the Saanich Fair Sept 2011. Thanks to Anthony Reynolds (our awesome bass player) of CINEVISION.com for putting it all together. Special thanks also to Graham Ord for permission to perform his song "Hook In Me." Our plan is to make these CDs available free for any contributions to our downtown and prison music ministries.
Thanks to all who helped support our performance at the 2011 Fall Fair in Saanichton. It was fabulous weather, and lots of people sat and listened to the music. This was our best one to date. Check out some of the videos on this site.
Another emotional high from playing this fabulous festival in Chilliwack, BC with a lot of great artists and music legends. A lot of hard work, prayer and dedication paid off for us, and we are so grateful for the awesome reception and affirmation we received at the festival. Now we prepare for the Saanich Agricultural Fair and another chance to spread the Word through our music.
