There are a whole host of plans for us on the horizon. We are working on our second EP and plan to have it up on teh interwebz by the end of summer. New tracks include our beeftastic 'Burn', the near-ballad 'I'm not Over', and some other live favorites that have not been recorded yet!
To that end, we have been having an awesome year so far exploring our potential as musicians and as a band. We have been gaining some followers and fans on assorted social networking sites, as well as getting unexpected press from all over. We were mentioned as a band to watch on the 'Nobody Cares Show' list of artists to watch for April 2009. We also wound up touching new countries with our tunes, including a user's 'Not famous yet? Why not?!' playlist. That felt pretty good.
We also have a funny story regarding our youtube material. You may have been notified, or you may have simply noticed, that we have a music video up. The artist and director for the video came out of nowhere to let us know that he had finished the video. Finished? We didn't even know he had started. This situation dates back about two years when we contacted local PDX artists who were interested in making a music video for us. This gentleman let us know he had a concept for a couple of our tracks, we gave him input and the tracks we wanted to make into a video. Then, he vanished. For two years. When he emerged, he had created a music video that resembled nothing we had originally discussed, for a song we as a band can't stand. Normally, I'd call this a fail. However, I have to give it up to this guy for putting in the hard work to make the video. He clearly put some heart and soul into it, and I think that it turned out great. And for a first video? It's a great place to start from.
Our show with Project 86, Wavorly, and Flatfoot 56 was fantastic. The crowd was most excellent, and not one band struck me as a suckfest. In fact, I was blown away by the energy each band brought to the table. As a personal aside, I had a special moment knowing I shared the stage with Project 86, being a listener of their tunes for a very long time.
2010 has been mildly turbulent for us in our non-wannabe-rockstar lives. Moving, rough times with friends, job changes, family stuff, and balancing all of it has been a challenge. While there is plenty of awesomeness wrapped up in there, it has led our focus away from rocking your faces off. But that's alright. Even superheroes have bad days.
When we arise from the rubble, we will be delivering a second music video to be filmed in May. We are currently working with the director on solidifying some concepts and potential songs to use for the video. It promises to be excellent; I can feel it in mah bones!
Also coming up, we have a photoshoot so as to replace our homepage pics that are ages old now. Joel doesn't wear glasses anymore, in case you didn't know.
We also might work on getting some shows lined up for May and June. Let us know if there's a venue we need to play near you!
If Christmas came in April, we'd wish you one. But it doesn't.
