i wanted to do a couple folk fest gigs this summer...just a few to start the flow. My daughter is 15 and so cool and self sufficient that i can now take off for a week and play rock star. i am looking forward to the excitement and camaraderie that is playing live. Meeting new people and other musicians is such a blast. i consider it a perk in this industry of uncertainty and struggle.
The studio is where my heart is. And so in addition to performing this summer I will also be recording with a handful of different producers. i liken producers to be band-mates. each one brings different ideas and skills to the music.
jeff Dawson- pop and hook master. He can edit and anticipate a fast as they come Stephan Siguerson- has an ear and a method that pushes me to think in new ways John Shepp-slow and steady and has a flair for melody and sonic landscape Sean Demetrie-has groove and 70 records of experience crafting raw material into danceable club favorites. Where is this going? cool Ray Fulba-calls himself a music contractor and with the help of carefully picked support musicians promises to take my rough guitar ditties to a place of Metis history and expression.
I am honored that these folk want to work with me and that they share my enthusiasm for poetry and melody! hai hai!
