Lessons

It is strange how long it takes some of us to learn what turns out to be a simple lesson. How long an individual can barricade their walls around them, genuinely thinking they will last forever.

I learned, and I learned harshly. Some sorrow was left behind for me as a reminder of the fight. What you do with that sorrow is the biggest question of it all.

God has different plans in most cases. He took down the entire city of Jericho, what makes any of us think He cant crumble our defenses...

L.I.F.E

There is a lot of talk about this little thing called life. Some say that it is magnificent, some say that it is useless or horrible, or in simple terms: it is useless. If someone were to approach me with the question: "What is the meaning of life?", my answer is: "Life may actually be spelled out the way that it is for a specific reason. L.I.F.E: Little Instances that Fuck Everything. Life is a tool, it is a sharpening tool. It sharpens the mind, it sharpens the heart, it sharpens each other." You ever hear of the saying 'Iron sharpens iron as friends sharpen friends.' That only happens in life. With all of this said, there are really only two choices to choose from on why this is. Their is a creator who developed, or programmed, this application called 'Life' around us to use as a sharpening tool to train us to have a good, specifically righteous, heart. Or, it is all just a coincidence. I'll say God as the answer, but you make the choice through your experiences and hope it is the right one down the road, because that is true freedom.

Truth Redux

Wow, the process of developing this first full length album under TDJP has been a long journey. Close to five long years (and counting) of on and off production phases, spontaneous raw material recorded for usable tracks, priorities in life slowing down the ability to write and produce... it has been a long time for sure. There ARE things that I have learned in these passing years as a result though. I have learned extreme patience and tolerance. I have learned to suck it up when things aren't going my way, not just in the music production area of my life, but in general. I have learned to appreciate what I have back home. I have slowly strengthened my knowledge of the electronic side of music, since I am limited to only my computer and midi controller, while traveling on the job. Knowledge that will be applied to this album, and the future albums that I have planned for release. Most of all, I have learned to trust God even more... period. At this point, I am on the road, working seven days a week for months on end, only to be able to be back at home for no more than two weeks at a time. It is a good learning process of how to manage your time, I will tell you that. It has been a fun journey as well, and I am looking forward to finishing up this album to present to all of you who may decide to listen to it.

The Road

Being on the road is an eye opening experience. Never knew traveling would open so many doors, to meet people, to see magnificent scenery, to live memories, both good and bad. The road is a sleeper that is such an iconic, and motivating structure. Yet, it is the most overlooked out of all of our daily lives. So simple, yet effective. It forces you to become a better person. It forces you into situations of fear, hardship and pain. It can also bring about a sense of serenity, tranquility, peace of mind, deep thought. It slowly makes you appreciate your home, or to gain the strong desire to leave it all behind. But, it can also remind you how lonely you really are at that moment in time...
