Hey guys! My brand new song, "Missin' Everything 'Bout Home" is finished and uploaded! Take a listen and let me know what everyone thinks! I am so, so, so proud of this song! It's a song I co-wrote with Bobby Cameron! The piano was composed and played by a 17 year old guy named Dwyght. Very talented! Enjoy! :)
So, I competed in the finals of Future Fest, and though I never won, I had a lot of fun. I sang my original, "Broken Hearted." You can check out the video of that on my page :) I also competed in the semi finals of St. Albert Idols but never made it to the finals.
This upcoming week marks the beginning stages of getting my new demo done up. The song is a strong one, with a powerful message, and I am very proud of it! As soon as it's finished I will post it up on my page and let everyone know its ready!
Also, I recently competed in a internet competition call Bon Jovi: A Superband Wanted I had to become a member of a site called www.ourstage.com and upload one of my songs. I decided to compete with Boy Vacation. I entered with about a week left in the live judging, which was just judged by fans and artists on the site. For two days I was in first out of 136 entries which was really exciting!! I ended up finishing in 27 place out of 166 entries. I found out on Friday that because I was top 30 Bon Jovi would be visiting my profile page, listening to my song, looking at pics and watching any videos of live performances. I am really, really excited about all of it :) And I owe a huge thanks to all my fans who took the time (some of them spent hours!!!) to vote for me and help me stay in the top 30! I love you all!!!
xoxo Marissa Rae
Hey everybody, I competed in two more competitions this past weekend. The first was st.Albert Idol Preliminaries. I had a great performance and ended up winning. I get to go to the finals in April, and I got a $50 gift card for the mall! That same night I competed in Future Fest Finals. I had an awesome performance that I am really happy with, but I never won. Videos of both performances will be linked on here by the of the week! Update on Factor Grant: My producer and I have picked a song for the demo. It's called "So Far" It's a really powerful ballad about a friend of mine, and how she let her addiction get the best of her. I am really excited about it, and once it's done it will be posted on here!:) Thanks for all your support! Talk to ya soon! xoxo Marissa Rae
Hey everybody, Just wanted to give you an update on what's been going on. Sunday, February 28, 2010 was my first official competition of this year. I competed in the Country Vocal Solo category, singing Broken Hearted and received a gold mark. I am still waiting to hear whether I have advanced to the finals. Saturday, March 6, 2010 my younger sister and I competed in the pop vocal duet category, singing The Rose- Bette Midler and received a mark of gold. Again, we are still waiting to hear whether we advance. And today is probably the most exciting news of all. I got an email today saying that my application was approved for the Demo Grant I applied for! So, expect a new demo in the next couple of months. Along with that news, I received some more great news. The Factor grants are decided by a Jury of Industry Professionals. Apparently, my demo, Boy Vacation, was accepted with great enthusiasm, and after they heard the song, one of those industry professionals approached the FACTOR staff and expressed interest in me. I am still doing research on his company, but he is a management company, so this is very exciting! I will keep you all updated as more news comes. Thanks for all your support! xoxo Marissa Rae
Hey guys, I have my first paid gig this Sunday, September 20, 2009 I will be playing at the Callingwood Farmers' Market which is located in the parking lot of the Callingwood Safeway. The actual address is in my show schedule. I will be performing from 10-3 and its free. You can just stop by and check it out. Its just a small performance but it will be fun :) Hope to see you there :) xoxo Marissa Rae
Hey guys, Sorry for the delay in getting the video up here! It's on my parents computer and I haven't been home in awhile. I will post a blog letting you all know when it is up and running. Thanks, xoxo
Hey, I will be uploading a video within the week of my performance on the Beer Gardens Stage at Big Valley Jamboree. Unforunately, due to my cd skipping while performing on the main stage, I have no video of that! In the meantime, the video is posted on my facebook page so if you don't feel like waiting, you can visit my facebook page under "Videos of Marissa" to see that! Thanks xoxo Marissa
First off I would like to say, my prayers and thoughts are with all those injured, and for the family and friends of the woman who died, and those still in critical condition.
I would also like to update you on my performance this weekend at Big Valley Jamboree.
Friday July 31, 2009 at 7:00 pm, I performed on the main stage in a competition against a girl from Calgary. I won the opportunity through a contest on CISN FM. The performance was going very well until my cd skipped. I stayed calm and just laughed it off. They offered to let us sing again at the beer gardens that night at 11:30.
I performed again that night, and thankfully that performance went off without a hitch! Everybody was dancing and cheering! It was an incredible feeling and I would estimate that there was about 2000 people in attendance, maybe more.
The competition portion was that people could go to the rogers booth and vote for which, of the two of us, they wanted to win, and the winner would get to sing again before Tim McGraw.
As of Saturday Aug 1, 2009 at around 3:00 pm ish the rogers booth informed me that the votes were 30 to 1 in my favor. So, it was looking like I was gonna win.
Unfortunately, as most of you already know, tragedy struck when a massive storm hit BVJ causing the main stage to collapse with people trapped under it.
Sadly, it will never be known who won the competition, but I am glad that I am safe, and I know there will be other opportunities. This was just the beginning for me :)

Hey guys! I entered a new compeition through 103.9 Cisn Fm and I won! The prize was a 3 day pass and VIP camping pass for Big Valley Jamboree. Then on Friday at 7 pm I get to sing my song, "Boy Vacation" on the Mainstage! Big Valley goers can go and vote for me at the Rogers Wireless booth, as there will be someone from Calgary that won. On Sunday, they will announce the winner, and that person gets to sing again! This is a huge opportunity and I am so excited! Stay updated and I will hopefully post video, and a new blog giving details on how it went! Marissa Rae!
So, unfortunately, I never won the Bounce To The Junos Competition. But it's alright. Life goes on and I am proud to have made it to the top ten!
I am currently preparing to audition to sing O'Canada at an Edmonton Oilers Game.
I am also in a singing competition this weekend. I am performing Boy Vacation, and I will let you know how I place!
