Our recent road trip to Knoxville TN this past week was one to remember. Our interview on WKXV 900 AM kicked the week off with a bang. Ted and Shane were great hosts, making us feel right at home. My sister Johnna, made a video of our performance after the interveiw, which we will try to eventually get uploaded. The sound wasn't recorded directly on her camera so we are working on editing the interview sound track to her video. Overall, it was an awesome experience. It was our first live performance on the air, which made it even more electric. Shane did a fantastic job making us feel relaxed and at home in studio. He even stopped by to see us at B&N the following Saturday while we performed at the book signing.
Michelle and staff at the Knoxville Suburban B&N were also so kind and hospitable, welcoming us with open arms. We met several folks who had come by to visit with myself and then to find the added treat of live music was icing on the cake.
We treated ourselves afterward to a supper of barbecue, then spent the remainder of the evening visiting with family.
In all, it was a great week, one we will cherish for years to come.
Mary placed 2nd in the Mt. Airy Fiddler's Convention 2013 Youth Folk Song contest.
We are very proud of her!!!
Tonight, after showing Jonathan and Mary the new FB page and uploaded song, I explained to them that once we got some other songs down, I'd find a way to get us recorded.
Needless to say, we sang in the car practicing our harmonies to Jonathan's new voice all the way to his Boy Scout camping trip rendezvous. Mary and I went on to Southern Pines for their First Friday night street fair of the year, where we busked for a couple hours with the Schilling family.
In all, we had a very productive and fun evening. Now time to let the throats, fingers and eyes rest.
Have a blessed night everyone.
