A screenplay by William Sachs based on the story of my investigation of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
Logline: Watching the destruction of his dreams became a living nightmare for Gary Revel. Still he survived and this is his story.

Playing poker with men in a rough and tumble southern juke-joint is not the typical activity of a 10 year old boy but it was for Gary Revel. Dancing with waitresses to Rock & Roll, Blues and Country music coming from the jukebox was also part of his usual child's-play. In High School he formed his first Rock 'N Roll band and after graduating joined the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
Hollywood California beckoned and he started writing songs and making records beginning in the Capitol Records recording studios.
In 1977 danger, intrigue and murder followed Gary as he entered the darkness of the investigation of the Martin Luther King Jr. assassination. His investigation of the killing took him on a journey that would bring him into Brushy Mountain Prison in Petros
Tennessee to meet face to face with the convicted killer of Martin Luther King Jr., James Earl Ray. From this came his investigation in which he found that others killed MLK, not James Earl Ray.
The story of that investigation has been optioned for a movie by William Sachs. Bill has written a screenplay, MLK, and negotiations are proceeding for the financing of the movie.
The song, They Slew The Dreamer, details some facts in a rock music recording and uses a documentary style mix to provide the actual April 4, 1968 Memphis Police dispatch recording of real time announcements and communications of the assassination.
Further you will hear House Select Committee on Assassinations Chief Counsel Richard Sprague introduce himself to James Earl Ray in the track.
