After a long hiatus, we are back on the album train. Alan Evans (of Soulive) is mixing the remaining 6 songs for the album, and we have just posted the 2 tunes that we have already finished with him - "One Tear" and "My Lost Beer". 4 more to go and then.... mastering! I'll perhaps launch a kickstart campaign to cover that business...
In the last days of March, Wubakia will be in the studio recording the remaining bulk of our first album (we have already recorded and posted preliminary mixes of "Backdoor" and "Looks Like Rain"). We're sticking with the engineer that we worked with on those two songs - David Streit with Track Balance Sound. David is an extremely well-versed and capable liaison between the band's vision and the studio equipment. Hard to say at this point when it will be ready for market, but we are sure it will be in the summer.
This has been a long time coming, and we are grateful to have participated in homegrown and student recording projects over the past couple years. Those efforts have given us valuable experience that is immensely helping prepare us for the real deal. Many of our songs have a lot of parts, and they require a great deal of arrangement and decision making to tackle, especially in the studio. We love it!
We have a lot of enthusiasm and high expectations for what we are capable of creating at this stage in our musical careers. We're feeling well organized and seasoned, despite the fact that this is our first real album. We'll keep you all posted!
