It is time for another "Spotlight"! All comments and questions are welcome for this guy... Our ringleader, our frontman, co-founder of the band, Mr. Gary Isakson!
I started in music at the age of 10 while playing bass in the 5th grade orchestra class. Where I also learned to play cello, violin, and viola. I was introduced to bands like April Wine, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath about a year later. Heard my first screaming guitar and I was done with bass! So, I took guitar lessons at age 12. Both of my parents played guitar and my dad and his brother actually played several bars and made their living at it for a while. At age 15 I met a drummer named Mike Masse. And after I had played in several bands that just didn't feel like "me", Mike and I started jamming together. We eventually found some other band members and after numerous attempts, things just never worked out. Eventually, after I had been covering the vocals between singers, the guys suggested that we find another guitarist and that I be the singer. So it was, and the band Malachi was born. We had a great band and we toured with Network for a long time. I played in a few bands after Malachi and eventually became burnt! I sold all of my gear and didn't do anything outside singing to the windshield. I got married, had a couple of kids, and was away from music for some time. And then one day my friend calls me up and says, "Hey, I just bought a bass! You should get a guitar so we can jam!" And that was all the spark I needed... I stopped and bought Jackie (my Jackson guitar) on my way home. I got started again, played in a band called The Other Side of Sanity (TOSS) for a while and then decided to place an ad to start my own band. That is when I met Paul. And he TOTALLY FREAKED ME OUT! He was talking really, really fast. Paul came over and, once I got him to stop talking, I was astonished! I called my old friend Mike Masse to play drums for us. And that was the beginning of ON3. Mike ended up leaving the band to go back to school. That is when we met Kelly and a little later BJ also joined the band to form our current lineup. And here we are...
Time for another band member "Spotlight"! Remember, we welcome comments and questions. So, let him have it! Today's "Spotlight" is on our Drummer, Kelly Jensen!
I started playing the drums as a teenager, after realizing that I was never going to cut it as a guitarist or bass player! Lol. Drumming came naturally and I was instantly hooked. I grew up listening to many different genres of music. And have been influenced by drummers such as the great John Bonham, Matt Sorum, Steve Jordan, and Chad Smith. I have played in many different bands but, always seem to find my way back to my favorite... Rock n Roll! When not playing drums, I enjoy puttin' around on my Harley, spending time in the mountains, and hanging out with the family. I see a lot of potential with ON3 and I'm always excited to see what we will come up with next!
We hope you are having a great Friday night! Guess what time it is?! It is time for another "Spotlight"! Remember, we welcome all comments and questions. And trust me, we are going to want to ask this guy some questions! As you will see, his profile will seem quite short and to the point. But, let's see if we can get this wild man to open up! Today's Spotlight is on our Lead Guitarist and backing vocalist, Paul Ballantyne !
I have been playing music for thirty plus years, at a very young age, I decided to make it my life's work. I have played in many different bands, of different styles, from smooth jazz to metal. From Colorado to Montana to California to Puerto Rico on cruise ships. I grew up in Pueblo Colorado and many years later ended up in Salt Lake City where Gary and I formed ON3. The style and sound of ON3, is to me, one of the best rock and roll bands I have played in. As all of the members bring years of pro playing, sound and professionalism.
ON3 would like to take a moment to let you all get to know the guys in the band a little better! A short interview with each member of the band, with a little background, and maybe some dirty secrets! You're comments and questions are always welcome! With that being said, today's "Spotlight" is on our Bassist, the one and only, Mr. BJ Probert !
I started playing bass when I was 15; I started playing since I was a huge Metallica fan and I loved the way Cliff Burton played. I convinced my mom to buy me a crappy bass and I taught myself to play. As I was learning to play I found out that there are amazing bassists like Steve Harris, Flea, Jason Newsted, and Rex Brown. I was in a band called Eleventh Hour for 4 years and we got a lot of recognition and it was amazing to open for bands such as 12 Stones, Adema, and Days of the New. I was also in a cover band called JunkPunch where we got to open up for Saving Abel. I used to play high school, college, and semi pro football. I have a 3 year old son named Cache (named after Johnny Cash). I also have a mom who loves to hear rock and roll. I hate long walks on the beach, candles are stupid, and I hate chick flicks.
