Current mood: adventurous
hope you're all enjoying the new year... we (Columbia) have a lot to look forward to in 2010. not to say that the rest of you don't, but it's our blog so we have to talk about ourselves! first we have the winter olympics coming to vancouver, along with the opportunity to play to visitors from around the world. next is our canadian tour, which is shaping up to be a good one - thanks to our new booking agency we'll finally have the chance to meet some of our fans from across the country! that only brings us to the end of march so it's shaping up to be a busy year.
i am originally from ontario (muskoka, for those of you who are familiar with it), and this upcoming tour will be my first time back since i moved out here a year and a half ago. needless to say, i'm looking forward to visiting all my old friends and family and introducing them to the band.
here in vancouver it's been raining non-stop... i should be at work today but the ski hill i work at has closed unexpectedly in order to preserve their snow for the olympic ski and snowboard events - instead i have the week off to sit at home and play guitar. it's kind of nice because we are playing an acoustic show this weekend and some extra practice never hurts.
that's all for now, if anyone is planning to visit vancouver during the olympics and would like to catch a show, feel free to drop us a line and we'll let you know where and when you can see us. for everyone else, keep checking out tour dates and hopefully we'll be playing in a city near you sometime soon! take care and thanks for your support,
It's been a busy summer and I am long overdue for a blog entry! We've been so busy lately getting ready for our west coast tour... turns out there is a lot of paperwork involved and some fairly strict guidelines to follow when Canadian bands want to play in the States. You can't just drive across with your band and your gear, you need mountains of documents and visas and insurance and whatnot to cover any possible legal issue that may or may not arise. One of the qualifications that I liked is that you have to be 'highly experienced and possess skills comparable to US entertainers or artists'. Americans are protected from any amateur bands that might come and corrupt the scene with their bad music! Anyway I am already getting excited for this tour and so are the rest of the guys so I know it's going to be an amazing time for everyone. It's been a couple of years since I was in California and I can't wait for the warm weather, surfing (if there's time) and all the cool people we'll meet along the way... not to mention the highly affordable liquor. We're working hard to perfect all our songs and we still have a couple good shows lined up at home before we leave, including a cool one on Halloween. Brian is working out great, it's only been a short time and it already feels like we've played together for years. I am trying to add the thing that shows what I'm listening to but it's not working... so for the record it's 'Going to California' by Led Zeppelin on repeat for the next 3 weeks. It's gonna be a blast, keep checking back for updates or write us if you want any more info on one of our shows... hope to meet some of you out on the road! Take care everyone and thanks for your support.
