It’s been pretty hectic here at MRHQ over recent weeks – what with completing the mixing and production on the new album finalising artwork and so on, so we’ve been a bit quiet of late in terms of posts, but we’ve some exciting new stuff coming up so it’s about time we got caught up!
EXIMIUS HUMANUS Pre-Sales go live
First up, the pre-sales of EXIMIUS HUMANUS are now live! You can order it right here on the website – hit the music tab at the top of the page or click here http://music.morpheusrising.co.uk. The CDs have taken a little longer to prepare than we’d though so they are currently in production, but as we did with LTSA, if you order the CD from us, you get the download immediately so you’ve got that to be going on with…We’ll send them out as soon as we get them.
Kickstarter folks should have had an email 24/01/2014 with a link to download the album, so if you’ve not had that yet, check your spam folders and get in touch if it’s not there!
There’s gig news too, with two shows to announce. So new we’ve not had time to add them to the gig list yet…
Firstly, Saturday March 8 we will be playing a double header show with our good friends Also Eden at Birmingham Asylum 2. It’s been a while since we last played a show with AE, and we’re looking forward to catching up with the guys. This will be a great night, and good to get back to Birmingham too.
Then the following weekend, Sunday March 16, we’ll be at Fibbers in York, supporting the one and only Graham Bonnet on his Catch The Rainbow tour. Home show for us too, so make sure you get out for this one! Been a while since we played Fibbers!
More news on both those events nearer the time, and we’ll be setting up Facebook events for both. Details on the tour page soon.
Happy New Year!
As you know, we’ve been busy working on the new album for some time, it’s written and arranged – some of the new songs have already appeared on setlists during the Panic Room tour – and we’re well underway recording it all. But there’s a lot still to do to get from where we are to having the finished product ready for you. So we’re launching a project with Kickstarter.com to get it finished.
Despite our recent signing with Melodic Revolution Records, it’s up to us to fund this release – the days of massive advances from record companies to fund albums are long gone, and there’s a great deal left to do. Once the recording is complete, we’ll need to mix, produce, and master the songs, commission the artwork, manufacture the CDs and so on. All of this costs money, and that’s where we need your help.
So we’ve launched a 30 day project on Kickstarter.com to make it all happen. Kickstarter.com is a crowd funding platform allowing fans to get involved in funding a project such as this by buying packages of rewards. If enough people back a project and the target is reached, it all goes ahead. If not, nobody parts with any money and nobody is out of pocket. It’s a great way to support a project without risking your hard earned cash!
We’ve put together some great packages of all sorts of things – from pre-ordering the album to a part in the next video – which we think will appeal to everyone! If enough people back this project, we can do all the things we need to do, and produce a great Rock album which will stand up against its peers. And you will have been part of it.
So be part of this with us, and help us make this happen. Get involved, and back us at Kickstarter in the next 30 days! We’ll keep you posted with updates here and at Kickstarter. Thanks for your support!

Press Release: Morpheus Rising Launches Kickstarter Project
Morpheus Rising has launched a 30 day Kickstarter Project to raise funds to complete their long awaited second album.
The as yet untitled release, affectionately known by the Morpheus Rising faithful as “MR2” is scheduled to feature around 10 songs, some of which have already been aired live by the band, and all written by Si Wright and Pete Harwood.
The Kickstarter project will raise funds to complete the mixing, production and mastering and manufacturing of the new CD, and backers are offered a wide choice of items as a reward for getting involved, from pre-ordering the disc in standard form; a deluxe version including their name in the artwork; a prop that the band have used live; a part in the next video; guitar tuition with the band’s axemen… and more.
Guitarist Pete Harwood explains, “Kickstarter allows fans to back the project and pledge money towards the projects target figure. If enough people support us and we reach the target in the 30 days, we can push on and get this album finished and out to the fans in a matter of months. An album costs a lot of money to create and manufacture, so we really need the fans get involved and be part of it with us to make it a reality.”
The band are aiming for an official release early in 2014, with the intention that backers of the Kickstarter project would receive their copies of the album and any other rewards a month earlier, in time for Christmas.
More information on Morpheus Rising’ Kickstarter project can be found at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/morpheusrising/1248962630 or the band’s own website http://www.morpheusrising.co.uk/kickstarter.
8 September 2013
It’s been another exciting week here at MRHQ – never a dull moment! Hard on the heels of signing with Melodic Revolution Records, we’re really happy to be able to reveal that we’ve found a full time replacement for Gibbo on drums – Mr Nigel Durham. Nigel is well known in the NWOBHM field, having been in Saxon and Oliver/Dawson Saxon.
Nigel will take over from Henry Rogers who’s done a spectacular job standing in since Gibbo left, but his existing commitments with DeeExpus and Touchstone and as a session player meant that this could only be a temporary situation. We’re enormously grateful for Henry’s massive commitment and hard work to step in at short notice and save the tour!
We’re all really excited about Nigel joining the band, and again, it’s been almost impossible to keep quiet about this over the last week or so since we finalised things. Looking forward to a fantastic new era for the band with Nigel behind us, and we’re sure you’ll give him a big welcome to MR!

Press Release: Nigel Durham joins Morpheus Rising
We are very pleased to announce that Nigel Durham (ex Saxon, ex Oliver/Dawson Saxon) has joined Morpheus Rising as full time drummer. Nigel is a fantastic drummer with an outstanding pedigree, and we’re delighted to welcome him into the band.
Nigel is no stranger to rock audiences, having played on Saxon’s Destiny album, and several albums with Oliver/Dawson Saxon, including Re:Landed and It’s Alive. We are really looking forward getting stuck into rehearsals with him, preparing current material for the live set and new songs for the album sessions.
We are extremely grateful to the one and only Henry Rogers for stepping in to the breach and filling the drum vacancy for the recent tour with Panic Room, and the Bikes Bands and Booze show last weekend. Without all his outstanding hard work and dedication at relatively short notice, we could not have done these gigs, and we’ve really enjoyed having him as part of the MR gang – even if only briefly!
We’re all looking forward to the new album and a new era with Melodic Revolution Records, and with Nigel joining the band too, we’re really hungry to get cracking. As Nigel says “Can’t wait to get my teeth into Morpheus Rising!”
We are delighted to announce that Morpheus Rising has signed to Melodic Revolution Records in the USA. The deal was done last week, and it's been all we can do to keep it quiet until now!
Based in Orlando, Florida, Melodic Revolution Records has a great roster of acts from across America, Europe and the UK. We're very excited to be part of this family of creative, like minded people, artists and bands and looking forward to working with Nick Katona and MRR who will be fighting our corner in the USA. We're already making plans with them for the new album which we also hope to announce very soon. Don't worry, we're not selling out, we are still in complete control - nothing has changed creatively!
This is just the first of several different things we've been busy with behind the scenes since the tour with Panic Room. Hopefully this might shed some light on why we've been being a little evasive about future plans recently. There will be more big announcements over the coming few weeks. Watch this space!!
Meanwhile, we'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has bought CDs and T shirts and come to gigs... everyone whose ongoing support has kept us going this far. We couldn't have done this without you! We're looking forward to bigger and even better things with Nick and Melodic Revolution Records in our corner, and we really hope you'll continue to be part of this adventure!
You guys are the best!
- Si, Pete, Daymo and Andy
We’ve been juggling quite a bit just lately here and MRHQ, so as things are starting to come to fruition, and as we’ve spruced up the website just a little over the weekend, we thought we’d start a blog at morpheusrising.co.uk to keep you posted in a little more detail of what’s going on.
