Open Mic Blues

I'm new to this, I'll admit it excessively because it is both true and useful.

I played an open mic last Sunday at Baker Street Pub on South Lamar in Austin for the first time in my entire existence. It was great.

Someone actually told me, "You did best on your first song, because you were nervous. Then you got confident. And that's good too, but you might want to try and hold on to that nervousness, it was really cool to see." or something along those lines.

In respect of that kind gentleman, I will indeed "hold on" to that nervousness at the next open mic, whether or not I really commit to it. It'll be there. The first time has a niceness to it, it's your first.

You get to mess up, you get to be a fool; everyone knows you have no clue what you are doing. But once you know, then you are out of excuses. Experience has rushed in to push them out of the way without mercy. And my level of experience is not nearly so bold, but it will be soon, and I guess I'm trying to make sure that I can catch up in the mean time so that I can let go of the blanket of naivety once I have my own fire built for warmth. Does anyone even see this? Hope you are well if you do :)
