So June is here and summer has kicked off. The band has already started their packed summer schedule. The Ivory Pub is just around the corner and a private party the week to follow, but the big news for the summer is the Roadside Manor’s 5 year anniversary show. That’s right, 5 years of playing, partying, and having good times with good people. We are pulling out all the stops for this show. August 4th at the Westbrook elks club we have rented the tent (capacity 400 people) to host a FREE party and show. ALL ARE WELCOME. We will be having some special guest appearances throughout the night. Keep your head up for more details down the line because your NOT gonna want to miss this.
We are actively working on filling our summer show schedule, we'll be in some different venues along the shoreline and in the Hartford & New Haven areas. Suggestions are always welcome, and now is the time to post a message or shoot us an email about venues you'd like to see RSM deliver some music entertainment at.
4 shows in the last three weekends, we had a blast playing at the Highliner, Uconn, The Ivory Pub, and La Vita. Thanks to all who came out!
We have some big announcements as well in the works, stay tuned...
Man does it feel good to be a part of RSM right now. Feels like we have all matured as musicians since we started over 5 years ago. Have a solid at the Bass position now, and that makes playing very enjoyable.
Booking our spring and summer schedule now, and trying to get into some nice venues. If you guys have any hookups into Hartford/New Haven/Beach venues you'd like to see us at, drop us a line! A name drop would help greatly!
Thank you all for the support you've given, hope to keep playing and making people a little happier through our music!
Wow, what a good time at the Highliner this Saturday. I can honestly say that was the most fun I've had playing in a while. Tons of new things!
We had 4 voices singing. We had new amps (ok, the second show) for Pete and Henry. We had new lights, they seemed to fill up the dance floor and stage pretty well. Look for more additions in the near future. We had a new sign made my Hotkowski construction. We had a ton of people show up (not that that's new, but still). Oh yeah, we had a new bass player as well, Mr. Brendan Albetski.
Thank you to everyone who came out, we hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did. Looking forward to the next one on March 24th, and a show filled 2012!
Well the banjo is back and sounding great. We have been busting our butts as usual to bring Brendan up to speed (4 hour gig this Saturday!) and he has been great. Nice to have a great musician slappin da bass!
Well I guess we're ready to be unleashed unto the world. RoadsideManor 2.0 or 3.0 or 188.8.131.52.5 or something. Anyway, we are super excited, we got some new songs, new sounds, new lights! (yes lights) and some new antics for the people.
And it seems as tho we may have an afterpary situation going on as well, so should shape up to be quite the night on Saturday. Hope to see you all there! Go to our events page for the deets.
My electric banjo has been in the shop for almost a week now. I'm having the frets leveled, and the bridge, truss rod, head and tailpiece adjusted. While I can't wait for it to come out of the shop, I have been enjoying the last week. Instead of the normal electric practice and jam sessions, we have done more of a stripped down, acoustic style. I enjoy the loudness and capabilities of electric music. But my true passion is the acoustic sound. I've truly enjoyed the last week, and I think the acoustic practice has worked itself back into the Roadside practice routine! I love the sound of my Deering, and have been using my capo finally. Love the key of A on banjo, so easy and it's nice to get out of G for a while. Purists will laugh at this, as the traditional banjo player goes through many tunings a show. So I'm simple, so what? Booty has been using his snare/highhat/other percussion, and has been dabbling in Harmonica! Sounds pretty good. Pete has the acoustic git, and played some mouth harp as well. Need to get this boy a nice acoustic! Anybody have a Martin or Taylor laying around they don't need? Anyway, good things happening with the acoustic RSM squad. New songs, new shows coming soon, finishing up the press kit now! Keep on Pickin', Henry Hotkowski
Thankfully, Booty's dad owns an optical store, because we all may need glasses after the countless hours we just spent staring at our computer screens to edit all our social media. We decided it was time to revamp the looks/information on all of our pages. In case you didn't know, we are active on ReverbNation, Twitter, Facebook and now, Youtube (videos will come as soon as we convert them). Everything is looking fresh, check it all out and let us know what you think. Also, we're at 10 shows booked and counting. 2012 has the fixings of a productive year for the RSM crew...
So, over the past year we have been debating ways to increase our stage presence. If you've ever seen Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny, you'd know the rigorous training we went through. We also spent many hours coming up with tricks and things to get the crowd excited, and now we are very happy to have come across some sweet lighting effects. We will be incorporating them into our shows soon. Speaking of shows, we just booked 5 at the Highliner in Westbrook, CT and are in the process of booking many more. We can't wait to see you all!
After a fun weekend at UConn, we are back to the grind. School/work for Brendan, Pete and Eric. Working hard for Henry. But we are definitely amped for Super Bowl 46. Being Connecticut natives, we are divided on who we want to win this Super Bowl, so practice may be suspended for a little while after this game...
So as we roll into 2012 Roadside Manor takes on a new members. Brendan Albetski came on the roster as the new bass player in the band. Not only does he play the bass but he brings a new vocal dynamic to the band as well. RSM is going top ramp up some shows going into late winter and early spring. The Roadside crew also recently went out to check out some studio's to do some recording. Be on the look out to hear some new songs. RSM is also looking to increase the song book and has been learning many new tunes.
