Well, lots has happened since my last blog! I got a fulltime job at Sears Holdings Corporation as a telephone sales rep! Woot, a pureblood musician working for the man! ..and after going through orientation last friday, I realize this is a fantastic job and I am so fortunate to have landed it! Also, my wife's arm is looking way better after the "accident" and is healing nicely so far as we can tell, and her next doctor visit will determine for sure. As well, I am saving up money for the Nashville trip that Johnny Hiland so graciously asked me to do, should leave somewhere around Mar/Apr! Way looking forward to that!
Still super excited for the Crabwalk Studios to be finished so we can get in there and get some work done.... man the construction is soooo slow! Also, bumped into an old friend from highschool, Mr. Charles Neil! It was awesome to hang for the small amount of time and look way forward to working with him in the future! The project with John Betts is slowly getting ready to be recorded at Crabwalk at the beginning of next year sometime. Also, Got my DVD of the Johnny Hiland jam back this last week and although I havent watched it all (had to stop at the 10,000 note mark and soak it in!), it is awesome and a great way to keep the super cool memories of getting to play music with my father, and of course, Johnny Hiland! as well, I was fortunate enough to get an old recording of my dad doing a jam session years ago! Also, (lots o also's) Jason Wolther and I started a commercial for Dana Graphics (the friend who put on the Johnny Hiland jam) and is in the pipeline. and Im also saving some money for an awesome new 88 key controller called the Roland A-88! Best action ever so far! Side note: bought CS:GO for my break times in between composing and tracking, woot!!!
Ok, phew! now the 20+ songs I've worked on in the last two weeks (busy week)... Songs I've recorded on: Bill Nieman (Rainbow Trout Studios) - The Fail Safe Project - 6 songs; Wade Thames (College Roads) -Sam Endress - 4 songs; Groovezoo "by Musicman6436" - "Rockin Road House Blues "and "The Blues Come Around", "by robbach" = "New Acoustic Song (working title)", "by Davec69" = "By Myself".... and now songs I've composed: on Groovezoo = "Boils Down to Faith" and "For Days and Days"; and on Soundcloud/Reverbnation = "Johnnys Going Home", "ooh baby baby", "Fulcrum", and "Piano Trance"... I've been super inspired if you cant tell! 'Til next, have a great week!
Normally I wouldn't put out another blog so fast, but a lot has happened in the last couple of days... first I'd like to say that the sickness is slowly ebbing its way out of our family, thank god! ...A couple weeks ago, my father (Mike Brown) invited me (via his friend Dana) to attend a private party where Johnny Hiland will be performing. Well, as of yesterday, my father and I have been invited to bring our equipment to jam with him!!!!!!! So yes, jamming with Johnny Hiland this upcoming sunday (14th)! To be honest... my favorite part is I am going to be able to jam with my dad again! It has been more than 15 years since we have jammed and I was starting to wonder if I would get the chance, before he passes! This is huge to me and I am SO looking forward to it! The Crabwalk Studios is coming along very well, and the siding is going up. I am very excited to start working in there! We have new artists/referrals this week and I cant wait to hear what they got! I definitely have to add I feel blessed to work with spokane's talent - the artists, studio cats, and engineers are so important to me! and the "Funk Organ" sample loop library is selling well and inspires me to complete the new upcoming library product for Film/Video! Last night I was asked to be part owner of Spokane Kenpo Karate! What an honor! With all of the irons in the fire right now, I'm not sure that I'll even be available to teach consistently, but we will see! A ton of awesome stuff has happened this week and I feel very fortunate! ROCK ON!
This is the season of sickness! Everyone i know is getting sick or is recovering. At my house, we have two young girls and an 18 year old boy. The "crud" started with the older of the two girls and slowly creeped its way through the family. Its been with us for about 2 weeks now, and it's getting a bit old. We wanted to get out of the house today and go take some family pics at a park, but alas, we decided to stay home and drink lots of water, eat fruit, take some vitamin C, and relax. It will be a good day when we can get out of the house as a family again! I look forward to it big time!
...and on a side note... I'm sick of the political crap!
Have a great week! Keith
