So I was recently asked why I have been so positive about things as of late. Some have asked if I found religion while others wondered if I went to some rehab of positive thinking. Since these questions came about I started to think about the relationship or no relationship between the two. Here are some points I came up with. So being in a band always brings out the best and worst in everybody. One gets to see the good things and the band things being in a band.
The good always weighs out better than the bad —-and the ugly—so ugly
The Good :
Drive it like cattle home on the range
Great booking—-making some $ too
Meeting half way on the music selections
Creating great friendships
Creating a good reputation - individual and band
Can see the big picture
Good support form each other
The bad :
So as a musician who has played in cover and original/cover bands, I have always noticed that when things get crappy the crappy have to get going.

One fun thing about playing in a cover band is the never ending battle of song choice. Individually we al would like to “only” play the songs that each of us like. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. Here are some of the conflicts that can arise
1. Genre guy/gal - This guy always picks a song that is totally off the wall for what the band concept is about. For example, if you are a top 40 dance band playing poppy dance tunes and your band member says “Hey, how about we play some Anthrax?”...More »
