The Enlightened Opinion

Breath heavily bated in anticipation of the enlightened opinion, wondering how this gifted existence can steer us peasants on the path of righteousness. And you didn’t even have to ask. Well not many things in this world are free and normally it’s for a good reason. So what is the opinion on opinions? The etiquette when it comes to the delivery of such indispensable jewels of knowledge is and probably always has been a cloudy and nasty business. In a world that has been infected with the success virus it seems that the majority feel the need the contribute their words of wisdom to steer random acquaintances “on the right path” whether or not this advice is welcomed or needed. When you break it down to basics I see two different types of opinions, invited and uninvited. The invited opinion is more often than not the more sugar coated of the two but at the same time more frustrating. Although it cannot be statistically proven but it can be safe to assume these invitees are a carefully selected group of individuals strategically chosen to back up the hosts original opinion. The most entertaining yet somewhat annoying part of this equation can be witnessed when one of the chosen few fails to deliver the intended response. A spectacular show can then be observed as the Broadway protagonist continually shops around in desperation waiting the hear the words that reinforce what they have felt as correct all along. These people are more commonly known as “Drama Queens” and can be as predictable as they are unpredictable, be sure not to put your fingers anywhere near the cage. The uninvited opinion is normally the more abrasive and intrusive of the two. More often than not delivered by those who live in neat little glass house with their neat little pile of stones waiting by the doorway ready for action. I have numerous recollections of times when these “Glass House Warriors” have invited me to come play their little game using the “if you were a good friend” angle to impose what was believed to be an acceptable decision for those around me. Personally I was more concerned with what motivated such people to feel the need to be so involved in other peoples lives. Was it merely a reflection of the own insecurities, a brief window in what keeps them up at night tossing and turning? And then you have to factor in the audacity of people like this to not think for a second that the intended recipient wasn’t tossing and turning themselves, contemplating whatever issues this golden advice pertained to. Could it be possible deep in their hearts that they believe they are the only one with such a magnificent intellectual advantage to formulate the solutions for woes of the more common man. These people are more commonly know as “Assholes” and should only be kept in shock resistant glass enclosures at all times. Well that’s just my opinion…
