Big news! My next solo album, "Villanelle: The Songs Of Maura Kennedy and B.D. Love" is set to be released on the Varèse Sarabande label on May 12! The album includes 15 new, original songs, all lyrics by published poet, B.D. Love, and all music by yours truly. There are a few guest musicians on the album, including Tommy Allen (he also played drums on some of POE and accompanied me on several solo shows), Gary Frenay, Arty Lenin, Claudia Chopek, Jon Carroll, Radoslav Lorkovic, and, of course, Pete Kennedy! This album would not have happened had I not participated in last July's Bright Lights reunion in Syracuse, where I first connected with B.D. Love. We wrote these songs in a great burst of creativity immediately following that event, and recording was finished before Christmas.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od7zpMrhcEU Maura played the annual John Lennon Tribute at The Alvin Ailey Theater in December 2009. It was supposed to be a Kennedys duo show, but Pete got the flu. Lucky for her and for the audience, she was joined onstage by a stellar cast of friends for her rendition of The Beatles' "Rain". Joining Maura was: Richard Barone (of The Bongos) on duet vocal, Erin McKeown on electric guitar, Rich Pagano (of The Fab Faux) on percussion and harmonies, Cliff Eberhardt on harmonies, and Rob Bailey on guitar. Here's the video on Youtube:

Hi, All! I've uploaded a bunch of live videos, including a cover version of Matt Mays' "Shining Eyes", which I have not yet recorded in the studio. I do plan on recording it for my solo album, due to be finished before the end of the year. All the new live videos come from the solo residency shows I played at The Living Room in New York City during the month of September, 2008. I've also uploaded a new song, "Shadows With The Lonely". I had not intended on putting this song with my other solo songs because I thought it sounded too different from the others. It's got what I call a "Patsy Cline" sound...very old school country, and not in the same pop/rock vein as the rest of my solo material. Still, after performing it live only twice, I received a bunch of requests that I make the song available, so here it is. It will NOT be on the upcoming solo CD for the above-mentioned reason, so if you want it, you need to download it from my online Snocap store by hitting the "Buy" button on the top right corner of my music player. Thanks, everyone! -Maura
Welcome to my Reverbnation page! I'll be updating in the days to come, as I get to know this site better. I welcome any comments and suggestions. Maura Kennedy
