The Myopics / Blog

Who we are and what we're about

The Myopics are a sprightly swinging acoustic trio based in Lititz. Their repertoire is drawn mostly from American popular songs pre-dating rock and roll, ranging from Tiptoe Through the Tulips to Take 5. The trio consists of Brenda Barnes on melodica, Rich Barnes playing ukulele, and bassist Pete Bainbridge.

The trio formed early in 2007 after Pete met Rich and Brenda and they discovered a mutual fascination with old music. Rich and Brenda have played together for many years in several rock bands, while Pete's background is as a jazz bassist. Their diverse backgrounds enable The Myopics to perform the old standards with their own personal interpretation- at times evoking a Parisian cafe on a warm summer afternoon, or a drive along Route 66 on a cool night with the top down.

With their combination of instruments and inspirations, their unique sound breathes new life into these great old songs. You're bound to be whistling as you're walking your baby back home!
