"You Can't Make Up For Lost Rhyme"

"Her poetry consisted of one line- "You can't make up for lost rhyme" - Displayed with graffiti spray- She stood there- Being the only one aware- That she'd actually written it- This was it?- Her moment had come- And gone wrong - Like the sign on the wall- "You can't make up for lost rhyme" - Missing- Was all that she hadn't done before- Personally- Entrenched in an intense- Internal war- Never expressed- Because of imagined fears of rejection- She'd mastered pretending- Not mending- Looking like she was feeling- But that's not healing- And- "You can't make up for lost rhyme" - She sank there- When it became clear- That no one was getting it - Her need to connect- Was embraced by the trash- She sank into - Too late to contemplate - "You can't make up for lost rhyme" - In the moment- A photo flashed- And a picture was framed - "The pent up- Inauthentic- Fade away" - It went on- To find a lasting place- Because- It connected- And became a sign of the times" - From The Poem And Song Collection- "Ronnie Lee Under The Poet Tree"- By Ronnie Lee Daise- Copyright © 2012 Ronnie Lee Daise. "To Breathe Free From Dinosaurs"

"There was a time when some feared- That the world would never breathe free- From dinosaurs- They'd gather around- In hidden places and pray- Saying - "What is a lifetime to ancient spirited beings?- Are we suffering too much from fear- To see past these things that frighten us?- Please "Wise Ones"- Enlighten us- Who run 'til sundown- And tremble when even imagining- Facing- Their Rage" - Some say that today's world isn't far removed- From those times - That there are menaces still looming over us- And flying things that cause harm- Are just- Terradactyl reborn- Some say some- Who dig for change- Uncover wall paintings- Depicting how they'd dance- In spite of it all- And reconnect- With their ancient chants- They- Who now watch over us- In our hours of fear- Remember clearly how the tides turned- And that the important lessons learned- Revealed- It is how we treat one another- In our most desperate hours- That makes plain- Who will be raised to the next planes- And who will be left behind- To be tested by the tides- That will rise - Until deep lessons are learned- "Each of us- Should be one another's- Greatest concern"- There was a time when some feared- That the world would never breathe free- From dinosaurs- Those times have gone- But the spirits- Who embraced- Love's guiding light through them- Have lived on"- From The Poem And Song Collection- "Ronnie Lee Under The Poet Tree"- By Ronnie Lee Daise-- Copyright © 2012 Ronnie Lee Daise.
