I'll be touring the U.S. again this Fall 2013 with the fabulous Trysette, be sure to watch as new tour dates are added!
Hello from the office at Little Hartley Music. This year has been rather crazy! In preparation for the new album and tour I'll be taking all of September off to cross Australia with my fiancé in the beautiful old 401 Bristol he just restored (1949 English car). Last week I had to cancel the Kickstarter project despite thousands of dollars of pledges!!! Actually the reason was a good one...A major record label signed the album for Australia and New Zealand (ABC/Universal) and so I figured it was the right thing to do. Thank you to everyone who supported the project, you should have a personal message in your inbox from me with a lossless copy of Christmas Joy. If you want to listen or download the album visit http://vibedeck.com/fionajoyhawkins but I'll tell you more about it later as it’s not quite ready for physical release yet. Any NARAS members may be interested to listen with a view to the New Age category (that’s a Grammy hint). You'll find the album this Christmas in ABC stores and even though it’s not strictly a Christmas album (half original) it may solve all your Chrissy present problems! I'm on tour in Australia from the 20th November starting at the Brisbane Jazz Club and finishing in Adelaide at the Promethian. I will send out another newsletter specifically with venues and dates but if you watch my website I'll post regular updates. I'm touring with Trysette, a pop singer/songwriter who has also just finished touring in the USA. We'll both be singing & playing piano in completely different styles. The tour is called 2Grand I'm Yours - both Trysette and I have recorded albums on a Stuart and Sons piano. We are going to be complete piano snobs for this tour and only perform on GRAND Pianos! (A big hint to all the venues out there without one). You will laugh when you see the promo shot........ More coming on that soon! 2Grand I'm Yours - Tour Updates http://fionajoyhawkins.com.au/ Just for fun I have a few new YouTube clips: LIVE IN HALIFAX with Heather Rankin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2L6elWOsU2c Pan Australis - with pics by Rob Smith http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D56Tm6Ln2-8 Joy..... a promo montage video for the new album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCDeln0Cfjg Love, Peace and Music Fiona email@example.com www.fionajoyhawkins.com.au
I have a new offering from my recent recording trip to the US - its a preview of Flight of the Snowbird (a re-record of Flight of the Albatross from Angel Above my Piano) but this time played on a 102 key Stuart and Son's piano with wonderful orchestral backing and my own vocals added (a new direction). The track will be released on Christmas Joy later this year. I used photos I took at the Colorado Monument. I hope you enjoy. Flight of the Snowbird http://youtu.be/Eu4XtUSNNi8 As mentioned, I have been on tour in the US recording two albums at Imaginary Road. I’ve had the privilege of performing with some wonderful and amazing musicians along the way. It has been a joy working with Will Ackerman and Corin Nelsen. One can’t help but be humbled by the vast amount of experience and expertise everyone at Imaginary Road Studios brings to a project. Please take a moment to look at Imaginary Road Studios Official and Corin Nelsen’s Websites: williamackerman.com, corinnelsen.com The trip was absolutely exhilarating, considering I would spend weekdays recording and doing interviews and then on the weekends concertperformances. Most of all I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many of you. You continue to inspire the music, thank you. I appreciate the lovely email messages, your presence at my concerts, the “Likes” on my links and YouTube songs but most of all your genuine support. I have even had some of you request my songs be played on your local radio stations - THANKYOU Just before flying home I completed the Mastering of 600 Years in a Moment and Christmas Joy with Bob Ludwig and he is truly a master of his craft. I am torn; on one hand I wanted to stay in the US and meet and perform for more of you; on the other I was homesick and needed to return home and see my family - as well as my cat. Any of you know of a reliable cloning device? I have also uploaded several previews of songs that will be on 600 Years in a Moment to YouTube; I hope you’ll enjoy them. Your feedback is always welcomed and I appreciate every note, comment and letter you send. You can listen by visiting my channel here http://www.youtube.com/user/fionajoy once there, look through the list on the right side of my page. 600 Years in a Moment is comprised using ancient world instruments. Finding these instruments was a feat all of its own, more on that a bit later. I have some fundraising ideas to help get this album released next year and will put those to you soon. If you are in Australia please note that I will be touring NSW, VIC, and SA in November and December this year. I am also working on LIVE at the Q (CD/DVD due September 2011) so stay tuned for that! Once again it has been a privilege performing with the following brilliant artists. :Kori Linae Carothers. Denise Young, Heather Rankin, Ronnda Cadle, Debbie Schrodt, Patrick Gorman, and the two I have not mentioned since my last letter (as I only performed in Denver with them at the end of the trip) - the very talented Liz Story and Lisa Downing: Liz Story http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liz_Story Lisa Downing http://lisadowning.com/ I would be remiss if I didn’t say thank you to all of the on air personalities and publication writers for taking the time to interview me. I enjoyed meeting and talking with each of you. Love, Peace and Music fiona firstname.lastname@example.org or www.fionajoyhawkins.com.au

Internationally Acclaimed Pianist Fiona Joy Hawkins Joins Boston Based Pianist Patrick Gorman Saturday, June 4, 2011 - 7:00PM Berklee College of Music – David Friend Recital Hall For Immediate Release littlehartleymusic.com.au We are pleased to announce that Australia’s Fiona Joy Hawkins will be joining Boston based musician Patrick Gorman on her US tour. Fiona is known by her remarkable music achievements and four award winning albums. Fiona is a multi-award winner but she isn’t stopping any time soon. FIONA JOY HAWKINS Discovered by Will Ackerman in 2008 after winning Album of the Year in the NAR Awards on a keyboard and from a field including George Winston, Fiona traveled to Vermont to record an album at Ackerman’s Imaginary Road Studios. Although Fiona has stretched, they continue a close musical relationship. In 2010 Fiona received prestigious awards in an unprecedented three categories in the Zone Music Reporters Awards, Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, and Best Instrumental Album - Piano (twice). She also won CD Baby Top World albums, landing 15th over tens of thousands of other World albums. Worth noting: Fiona's "Blue Dream" remains in the top 10 selling New Age Albums on CDBaby to date. Fiona has been an ARIA Finalist, Best Dance/Dub/Club Album as well as winning the MusicOZ Award for Best Classical/Jazz Artist in 2008. She has had over 38 nominations in Indie Artist Awards across 9 countries. Fiona is recording her next album 600 Years in a Moment, a live concert DVD and has been approached to do a film score but we can’t say more about that just yet! Recently a song from her upcoming album was featured on NPR (National Public Radio) “Earthbound” which resulted in thousands of emails asking where the song could be purchased. Though it is not yet available you can listen here http://youtu.be/arEZPDT0iGE PATRICK GORMAN Multi-Instrumentalist Patrick Gorman is a composer and performer of instrumental solo piano movements falling stylistically into the realms of ambient and contemporary classical. His exploratory approach to the instrument infuses streaks of melodic passages with dynamically rhythmic and thematic movements, resulting in a sound and style that very much remains his own. His solo piano recordings Sounds from the Wishing Well (2005) and Chasing Tornadoes (2010) were produced by founder of Windham Hill Records and Grammy award winning recording artist Will Ackerman. Patrick’s unique story is still being written; however, his footprints in the piano world are more than impressive and long lasting. Patrick, being a drummer by trade heard the piano calling out to him and embraced it. Those who enjoy music of George Winston, Liz Story and David Lanz are glad Patrick chose to branch out. The NEW new age world has found a star in Patrick Gorman. Join us for an unforgettable evening June 4, 2011 David Friend Recital Hall 921 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02115 Tickets available starting May 11, 2011 To reserve tickets go to http://www.ticketmaster.com/ Or phone 800-745-3000 Ticketmaster Express 866-448-7849 (automated) For more information about these extraordinary artists visit the sites below www.patgorman.com www.fionajoyhawkins.com.au # # # Little Hartley Music is dedicated to promoting the very best in new music. blogs.myspace.com/fionajoyhawkins The meaning behind Standing Up- I was told by someone in Australia (involved in my earlier albums) that I wasn't good enough to play the piano, record or write Blue Dream and that I would blow my chances if I even attempted Blue Dream with such esteemed people as those at Imaginary Road. He said they would laugh at me and my career would be over. Not only did that hurt, but it made me want to prove that it was wrong. It was not only my life's dream to be a composer, but to record with Will Ackerman was going to be the realisation of another dream. It’s one of life’s ironies that responses to hurtful comments from others often leads to finding one’s voice. That’s what happened with Standing Up. In the beginning, I felt the need to prove something. Then the music took over, guiding me in the composition of Blue Dream. Suddenly, it was no longer about credibility. It was about creating, about transcribing the music in my head into sweetly blended notes emanating from piano and cello, beautiful vocals and strings. About the bliss I felt while working on it and the utter joy of collaboration. Now, two years later, Blue Dream is on the ballot for five Grammys, and it continues to bring me a sense of fulfillment. And if credibility were still an issue, it has elicited comments such as the one below by Will Ackerman and the messages I get en masse from people around the world who love the music. Standing Up comes from sitting down with yourself and believing you can achieve anything if you want it enough. I'm not seeking credibility any longer though having Standing Up in the final round at the Grammy Awards for Best Instrumental Composition would be quite a recognition and one I would be so proud of. "Fiona Joy Hawkins "BLUE DREAM" began as the most ambitious project of my entire career and resulted in one of the most remarkable collaborations this genre has ever known. The scope of what we contemplated in the beginning was so vast as to be nearly paralyzing, but with Fiona's talent, both as a composer and player, and a group of musicians of world-class caliber, a 67:50 suite of music resulted." "The music itself spans a broad range of styles and ethnicities and yet (though we didn't know whether we'd succeed until the very end) is magically cohesive. It works! Never has faith been more rewarded. Blue Dream is unique and I am as proud of it (and Fiona) as anything I ever worked on in my 35 year career of Grammy Awards and gold and platinum records."
