Actually, not the whole story, because that would take some time. Rather this is the story behind the 'Live' album.
In summer 2011, we had just about finished the promotional work for our debut album 'Notebook'. (You can listen to it at www.tonyedwardsband.com). Things had gone ok - we had recieved some good reviews, there was a lot of material written for the second album. Everything was heading in the right direction, if only slowly. We were tight.
Then disaster struck - while building the body for a new guitar I planed the tips of the second and third fingers from my left hand. I took the ends back to the tip of the nail, leaving the end of my fingers looking like a pair of canelloni.
I couldn't really play. I completed a gig three days later with plastic 'thimbles' taped to my fingers, but it wasn't good, and although I knew the fingers would heal, I was unsure that I would ever be able to play the way I had before.
We had planned to record a couple of shows for a live album, but that was definately off. So as a compromise we decided to record two 'live' tracks for video without an audience.
On the night of the recording, we set up and got the two tracks down, audio and video, in less than 30 minutes. So we just kept going. The recorder was left running and we recorded a few more videos and about another hour of audio.
You can hear that we are having a little fun - afew beers, quite a few bum notes (almost exclusively mine), and the smoke machine going off too close to a microphone which we couldn't edit out. But that's what it is, totally live, with absolutely no overdubs - exactly as it happened on the night.
So please download the album- it's totally free. While it is far from a perfect polished article, it captures the band at a very important point in our history.
