Nashville for Writing/Back in Studio

7/13/2011: Well, Zou's trip to Nashville to write with Billy Falcon went incredibly well. Great time, great songs written, and going back again in a week to finish up. We'll be adding these songs to our record, so the release will be delayed by about a month; trust me, well worth the wait. I'm so grateful to Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Falcon, Obie O'Brien, and Travis Smith for their writing contributions to this album. I'm having the best time making this record... So, two shows coming up in a couple weeks in the Philly and Lancaster, PA areas. Check out "Tour" link for more....until then...

Recording New Record: Update on Our Progress:4/3

Recording New Record: Update on Our Progress:4/30

Hey Everyone! Zou here, and I wanted to update you on what we've been doing since we last chatted. I know last post I put up was about beginning the new Soraia record on April 19th, and that's about what happened (maybe a day or two off;). We got five days of recording in so far as well as a few pre-production and writing days before that. I had the honor - and it was truly an honor and a HUGE learning experience for me - of rewriting some of my songs for a couple of days with Jon Bon Jovi before we went into the studio. I cannot even tell you in words what I learned. I just want you all to know that I left the experience a far better writer than I went into it with. I am grateful for the opportunity and the experience. I cannot tell you how proud I am of the work we have already put into this record, and how differently we have been approaching the writing, recording, and engineering of it than in the past. It's amazing to see your growth artistically from one record to the next, and this year has been a growth kinda year for me since January 1. Amazing. We have a few songs' rhythm tracks down now, and changing as we go. During this week off I am still doing some rewrites as well as working on three more songs, one of which will be the final cut for the record. Alas, we will be heading back to Red Bank to continue recording on May 8th 'til who knows when. And then it's back to Philly for adding layers. Maybe some more work in Red Bank, not sure yet. I know we don't have a show locally until June, but know we are working hard on making great music in the meantime:) More updates and maybe a video coming this week. Please add yourself to our Street Team on Facebook when you are able. We are trying to build a group to really help us in working and picking the best cuts off the record as well as getting your input on promoting. This is a grass roots movement and we need your help now more than ever, whether it's a smaller time commitment or larger, doesn't matter. We just need you. Until next time.....xoxoxo, Zou

Starting Next Record (Amended) April 19!

Starting Next Record (Amended) April 19!

Well, a lot of songwriting and editing and songwriting has been done the last few weeks and especially the last few days. I've gotten into a headspace that I've never been able to before in order to write these songs, and I know they will affect and effect you the way they are doing to me. We begin our journey making the record with Obie O'Brien, Jon Bon Jovi, Rewman, Joe Armstrong, Travis Smith, Mike Lawson, Chris Versace, Matt Teacher, me -ZOUZOU!, and our guitarist for this recording project, Mr. Joe Mass, next Tuesday. Our team has remained steadfast, brave, and uncompromising in our goal, and these are each people who have been along in some form or another each step of the way. Feels good. We are truly honored, excited, and so changed. There are even more transformations on the way - I can FEEL it.

AHA! While you've stopped by, why not go down a bit on this here page and check out our newest "Featured Video" from the Wells Fargo show. It was shot with 6 cameras and has great audio. We will be posting more of the songs from that night over the next month, so check back often!

With new horizons come the realization of a few things: mainly, no longer being able to settle. Not settle for the comfortable or familiar. That being the case, some things have had to get shifted and rearranged and rethought, but know this: it's all for the better and it feels so good and right. LOVE IT.

We will be taking the month of April off from shows to record and keep our focus ONLY on this record.

I know some of you are so proud of me, especially those of you who know me well. Those who don't, I'm so grateful you're interested in our project, and we will not let you down with anything less than you deserve artistically and musically from us. We're happy to have you along for the ride! Onward and upward! I will keep you updated as we go - send all your positive vibes our way for the process...you're right here with us. THANK YOU!
