New song up'ed, "A Means To A Sonnet"

Ever composed a sonnet while listening to Joy Division's "A Means To An End"? While the songs sound nothing the same, the title is still meant to be a tip of the hat to Ian and the boys none the less.

New songs are on the way...

Just uploaded the rough mix of "Leave Me". Still waiting to get the vocals recorded, Josh's guitar treatment, and the final mix down.

Keep checking back since we've got quite a few in the works. In the meantime here's a small sneak-peak... Look for our new tracks entitled "A Means To A Sonnet", "Eden", and "My Queen" which will be uploaded throughout April.

Looking for shows

Band is just about solid and I'm walking everyone through the back catalog of material. We have a [first] show slated for 6/21, but we're open to anything that comes our way between say 5/1 and then.

Creative with focus-issues, seeks understanding with vigor

Almost a year and where have I gone? I bought a stand-up bass (contra-bass, double-bass, whathaveyou) and developed an appreciation for Charles Mingus and John Coltrane. As for my big plans for FOJ... Wait, what were we talking about again? :(

Here's hoping someone else gets it and expresses an interest. It's not terribly hard. Just tell me my ideas are brilliant or complete shit, and hold me to developing new material/practicing/rehearsing once a week. One person, three people, the more the merrier.

Direction

Funnel Of Joy has always kind of been like that one girl on your phone. The bird you would never really date, but you call up late at night some times when you "bored and lonely". ...ahem. ;)

Lately I've been really digging into the deeper layers of one of my all-time favorites, Joy Division. Since my last update I also found an AMAZING band called Psychic Teens (http://www.facebook.com/PsychicTeensNetwork/app_204974879526524). I've also been listening to a lot of A Place To Bury Strangers and SWANS. It hasn't come across thus far, but I'm sure it'll start influencing my tracks at some point. Which brings me to the point of this post- musical direction. I strung up one of my old basses as a piccolo bass and have been getting some interesting sounds when running it through a cheapo distortion pedal. Between my basses, the new Novation Impulse controller (61 key!!), all of the junk I accumulated with the other band, and some toys I plan on taking a soldering iron to, the sound of FOJ will be changing. Brace yourself for my shitty vocals (well, they did suffice for a half dozen or so punk and post-punk bands), REAL instruments (egads!), and even some occasional female backing vocals. Why not? It's not like I answer to your whims anyway. :)~
