Mardi Gras!

So Mardi Gras is one of my favorite times of the year, meaning I either march or go to parades every weekend until Fat Tuesday, and even then we go partying in the French Quarter. I love my hometown because of all the culture in this city, and Mardi Gras is just one of the many highlights that I love! This weekend I am marching in the Krewe du Vieux Parade with my family, and next weekend I am riding in the All-Women's Cleopatra Parade that runs right on St. Charles Avenue. New Orleans is a horrible place to stay on a diet, and we prove that by having King Cake, which most natives wish they could have for breakfast every day, like me! Loads of celebrities like Carrie Underwood are Grand Marshals of different parades, which is pretty sweet. The season hasn't even started yet, and as I sit here typing, my mom is decorating our Mardi Gras costumes. One of the best parts about Mardi Gras is that schools in New Orleans (Yes, there is an education system down here, haha!) are closed for Mardi Gras week! My Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter will be filled with Mardi Gras pictures of food, parades, and of course selfies of me eating the food and catching beads at the parades, so keep on the lookout! Now back to decorating costumes..

Trucks, Tractors, and Trailers

Hey y'all. So living in New Orleans, I rarely have encounters with big tractors or trailers unless it's parked in someone's garage or on the side of the road. (yes, I have seen a tractor parked in uptown New Orleans..) These three things are almost in every single down-home country song known to man, but this Saturday I'll be able to stand right in the middle of a city of monster trucks in the Superdome. I'll be singing to almost 60,000 patriotic, country music loving, truck lovers packed into one arena. Every Rednecks dream! So if you haven't already and if you'll be in the area, get your tickets, grab your cowboy boots, and head on over to the Dome because I would love to see all the support I can get, considering I might be a little nervous singing to my biggest crowd so far! http://www.ticketmaster.com/Monster-Jam-tickets/artist/1542376

I'm still working on some new music, and hopefully a new EP to release this year so keep on the lookout. I'll let y'all know how it all turns out.

Oh and if anyone has a tractor I can borrow, let me know. :)

Family

When families come to mind, we think of sitting around the table, watching movies, or playing games with each other. Every family has their unique story, but there are no words to explain my family. Of course we all get into fights like every family does, but my family will always be my backbone and number one support group. Coming from New Orleans, we have crawfish boils, hour-long card games, paddle boat rides at the camp, birthdays in the French Quarter, Sunday breakfasts with Randazzo's King Cake, and tears from laughing so hard at each other. Majority of Instagram posts are of my family, and I would give up just about anything for my them. As the New Year keeps rolling, I want to promise myself to keep at least this resolution: to spend more time with them before I head to college. So I'll ask you guys.. What does your family mean to you? Happy New Years Aikenators! 2014 will be our year!

Sushi, Country Music, and NOLA

In this blog, I want you guys to get to know me a little better. Those three things are just some of things I absolutely love, but inside of New Orleans, there are multiple reasons that I will always call NOLA home, and through this blog I want to show you a little bit of where I come from. Yes, I am an 18 years old country singer, but that's not all that defines me. Music is a huge part of my life, but there are so many other elements that make me who I am. I hope that everyone still has an amazing holiday season and had an amazing Christmas. I'll be back on here soon.
