So....how can I explain this...ok...so I post my latest video, The Fear of Dying Alone about a week ago. It takes off, getting over 22,000 views and a good number of comments, likes, etc. I go from not being on Youtube search for my keyword the first day or two, to being on page 37 on day 3 to being on page 3 from day 4 on...needless to say, I've been very busy with my promotion efforts. Wake up this morning...literally....my YT acct has been hacked, my video link was spammed, YT deleted the video and apparently reuploaded it to "protect" my acct...needless to say, I have to start ALL OVER AGAIN now. So, those that have received links from me, that old video link isn't going to work. My new video link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsnCM7zYDV0 I guess it could be worse as they say...sheesh...all that money spent on advertising and time spent sending messages and what not down the drain. Well, Happy Friday everyone!
Hey everyone! I have FINALLY finished this project of mine and can't wait to share this with everyone. The name of my NEW piece is called The Fear of Dying Alone. Feel free to share it, rate it and comment if you wish! Thanks for the continued support!
My journey has led me down a path of rebranding...it's all about progression and yep...it's officially under way! If any of you have ever gone through this transition, you are well aware how long and tedious this can be. As if keeping track of all these social media profiles isn't hard enough! So please everyone bear with me. I hope to have this done over the course of the next couple days.
As of right now, my profile here on Reverb, Twitter and Pinterest have been completed for the most part. Youtube is going to take a little while as I'm looking over the new site design and all that "wonderful madness". I still may do some minor tweaking here and there in general, but basically what you see now is pretty much the foundation going forward.
I've also added Instagram and will do Google+ as well at some point. How I'm going to keep track of all this is beyond me but hey, I appreciate the LOVE and SUPPORT and the PATIENCE everyone has shown me so far.
Thank you to everyone for supporting me and loving my work and promoting my work as well. Stay tuned for more "good stuff"! Cheers everyone!
In the end...it's all worth it...the time commitment, the slaving for long hours, the frustration! Do something you L-O-V-E and you'll never work a day in your life! If you get the chance, I hope you'll stop by to check out the fruits of my labor!
Dying Alone - This is easily one of my biggest fears as I hear it is with most people. I'm glad this piece is finally done though as it required going to a dark place mentally to finish. I'm meeting up with the fellas this weekend to go over video ideas and the like. One of my friends has already provided a nice piece of his own audio instrumental to set the tone but much still has to be done as far as picking a video location, sound effect/audio arrangement, etc. Quite the challenge to say the least, but definitely excited to be almost at the point of completion for this project! I hope you are as excited to hear it as I am to be performing it for you! More details to follow...stay tuned!
I was born in Baltimore, Maryland; however, I was raised in Alexandria, VA but grew up as a child without siblings to parents both descending from Spartanburg, SC. I like to say I have a rather “southern upbringing” if-you-will, definitely being raised on politeness and character. The rest of my schooling, teenage years and young adult life were spent in Woodbridge, VA, graduating from Gar-Field High School in 1995. I wasn’t actually writing much back then, if at all. As I grew older though, becoming more exposed to this thing called “L.I.F.E.”, I found the need to have some sort of creative outlet, but it was only for venting purposes and internal peace of mind back then.
I wasn’t always as focused and true to this art form though and can easily say I’d given up on writing a handful of times. It wasn’t until life’s hardships started to weigh on me that made me to pick up the pen again, namely the loss of my mom in 2003. Within the period of 2 to 3 years time after that, I had also lost an aunt, uncle, and grandmother (in that order) and then lost my dad in 2009.
So…you probably thought I was going to write about all my achievements, accolades and accomplishments instead of this personal recollection, huh? Truthfully, me being here right now, saying I overcame…saying I’m free of previous addictions, therapy sessions and “dark” thoughts IS an accomplishment and commendable milestone in my eyes because I could be “elsewhere” with a dark cloud still shadowing me.
Why am I telling you this? Because if you’re still reading this rather long bio, you deserve to know that I’m scared by the pain and losses that I carry with me every single day. Yet, I’m still motivated…and I can’t and won’t stop telling my story because there’s someone whose going through what I went through, if not more. Taalam Acey and Black Ice are two of my favorite poets that I would listen to quite often for poetic encouragement and quite simply, I want to do for someone else, what they unknowingly have done to and for me. If I can overcome all this and still be here, however scared, yet still somehow able to stand and tell my story, I can truly say you can overcome and achieve ANYTHING you set your mind to do. I leave you with this: “Everyone has talent…rare is the courage to follow that talent to the dark place it leads”. – Erica Jong As one of my favorite poets, Black Ice once said…” I challenge any of you to find something that you’re really willing to die for…and then LIVE FOR IT!” That being said, what motivates you?
