I once asked an older gentleman if he was having a good day. He answered yes, adding that he read the obituaries each day and if he didn't see his name in them then he knew it was going to be a good day.
When I was young I didn't think much about the obituary column but now that I have a lot more days behind me than I have in front of me I think a lot more about that part of the newspaper. I usually glance at the obituary column each morning and in the song "Running From Time" I refer to that practice as " I read about yesterday's dead". This song simply describes how many older adults feel as they reach the later years of their lives.
I come from generations of Dreamers. A Dreamer is never satisfied with the ordinary and is always reaching higher. Sometimes these Dreams are realized and sometimes they are not.... but the striving to achieve them never ends.....
