See You At the CD Release Party on April 15 at the Creekside! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=158459550876212
Everything is on track for the big party on April 15 at the Creekside Inn in Santa Barbara. We spent three glorious and grueling days in the studio and managed to NEARLY finish all of our recording. Just mixing and some guitar lead overdubs left to do. And we are really excited by the sounds we are hearing. Can't wait to introduce this baby to the world.
We spent 12 to 15 hours each day at Playback Recording Studios, trying to make a really honest album. Almost every instrument track you will hear on the recording was done live and on one continuous take. We shunned the modern style of overdubbing everything one instrument at a time because we aren't interested in faking anything. The vocals were recorded separately, however, but we did all of our harmonies together around a couple microphones to keep them sounding organic. NO AUTO-TUNING on any vocal track. We have laid ourselves bare for you all and we hope that turns you on. CHEERS! Can't wait for the CD Release with Big Jugs. Don't miss it.
We've recruited a bassist. It doesn't seem like that should be news for a rock band, but we've always been a little different. The Mutineers have slowly evolved over the last four years from a solo project to a four-piece. People familiar with our music will think of us as a bass-less three piece with a stripped down sound. We're keeping the same style but adding some depth is all. Terry Luna of The Depths, Holdfast Rifle Company, and sometimes others, has come on board with the Mutineers. We've had already received a great response from a couple rocking shows here in Santa Barbara. Go friend us on Facebook. It's updated more frequently.
We didn't have anything AGAINST having a bassist, we just wanted a very specific kind of Mutineer if we were to add anything to the mix. So now it's working well enough to return to the studio. You've already heard four of our unrecorded songs if you've been to a show this year, but we are going to hold out on the rest of the new stuff until its recorded, because sometimes its fun to wait. The plan is to release 10 songs. All instruments will be recorded live and on one take, just like the old Petty albums. The goal is to capture our live performance and create an album that is diverse in style and tone that shows the progression of our songwriting and playing abilities. Hope you will keep an eye out for it.
